He did a "real good job" in removing the birthright of an Arabic script from this Muslim nation, as well as removing other visible evidence of Islam, through the use of raw fascist force. My gut reaction to him is much the same as it would be if some fascist dictator took over our country of Israel, outlawed public displays of Judaism (Kippa, etc), and made it lawful for Hebrew to appear only in Roman font. It is this buggery of the Turkish language into a Roman font that particularly annoys me as a Semite. As for what I did for my Jewish nation, I have done my utmost to foster the spread of the Hebrew language. I fight tooth and nail attempts to bring English into the Synagogue, have Siddurim (Prayerbooks) with English in them, have parts of Synagogue services in English, etc. I started learning Hebrew at the age of 26. In two years I was able to wander through Mikraot Gedolot in Hebrew (and Aramaic). I don't see why other Jews can't learn Hebrew, even as adults. Hebrew is special to us Jews, much as Arabic is special to Muslims. If I wanted English in my services, I would go to church...
