US moves toward confrontation with Russia over Georgia

Russia symbolically slapped Georgia’s face by “removing abandoned weapons” from the Georgian border town of Gori. In plain words, Russian army confiscated Georgian weapons as if Georgians were petty criminals. In the PR terms, the Russian move was just great.
Bush, Rice screamed at Russia for violating Georgian sovereignty. Rice is a professed expert on Russia, though her relevant essays are nonsensical. She wants to test her skills, and continuously irritates Russia - now with the unwarranted support of Georgia. In this round, Russia quickly and efficiently defused humanitarian crisis and repelled Georgian barbaric aggression against civilians in Osetia.
On other hand, Georgia is of the same stock as Vietnam and Afghanistan. It doesn’t matter that Russia is right, but its imperial ambitions must be curtailed and expansion stopped by peripheral wars. US-sponsored conflict in Georgia might stem Russian expansionism. Limited supply of anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons would allow Georgia to stop the untrained and outdated Russian army.

It seems Russia has no plans to expand any more. It also seems that the Russian army is not that outdated after all, judging from the fact that it routed the (american trained) Georgians in three days. It was a lightning operation IDF style. The last war with Lebanon, where Israel fought (and failed to defeat) not even a regular army - a bunch of amatuers was somewhat of an embaressment… Does that mean IDF is untrained and outdated?
