Much fuss has been made over the Russian decision to install a major radar station in the mountains of Armenia. The purpose of this radar would be to warn Iran of an Israeli strike from Azerbaijan.
In terms of PR, the Russian radar is no match for US installations in Turkey and Israel. But more importantly, there is very little that Iran could do to prevent an Israeli strike, with or without warning. It is mostly about Iran’s ability to withstand our electronic warfare on its Russian-built SAM radars, or to counter a saturation strike with hundreds of missiles.
The Russian radar in Armenia will be itself extremely vulnerable to sabotage and jamming.
