German paper Die Welt, routinely acting as a mouthpiece of the security establishment, revealed that in March Assad foiled a coup by senior members of Syria’s intelligence community. The coup could have delivered hundreds of Syria’s advanced missiles with chemical and biological warheads into the hands of Muslim extremists.
