The media are boiling with semi-righteous anger at a minibus driver who broke through the train barrier at Kiryat Gat, causing a collision with horrible casualties.
Not so fast.
The driver is a decent Jew who certainly did not want—as Arab drivers typically do—to break through the train barrier. The train driver confirmed that the minibus was braking on its its way to the barrier, but could not stop fast enough.
Might it be that the fault was not with the driver, but with the barrier’s visibility, or the speed with which it closed?
