Netanyahu is beating the PR drums by calling on the Attorney General to investigate a Jerusalem mufti for incitement. The PM’s demand leads nowhere, as he knows full well. First, he cannot prosecute the mufti for political reasons. Second, Israeli law specifically excludes religious books from the definition of racism, and the mufti quoted a well-known hadith.
Now, it is an oddity that such a figure as a ‘mufti of Jerusalem’ exists in the Jewish state, whose religion commands the expulsion of other confessions from the Land of Israel. And it is no less odd that the Jewish state allows the practice of the Muslim religion, which contains similar instructions. But beyond that, the mufti was within his civil rights to quote the Hadith.

Thought: for that it counts: “nood breekt wet” (dutch for an urgent need breaches law),so of lives are threatened by that kind of misusing words, i would doubt anyone with some common sense choosed a religious law over saving life. At least someone might state that hiding disrespecting ideas within religious laws are treacherous
and therefore devaluting the meaning of ‘religious’ (which means respect for some higher moral life)
Don’t forget that the government of Israel rents air frequencies to PA-TV, never mind the PA decades-long incitement calling for the extermination of Jews and takeover of all of Israel. This latest incident must have embarrassed the government into appearing to do something about it.
That’s a big question, you see. Religions often prescribe harsh actions toward others, Judaism being no exception.
The “Hadith” should be condemned.
The Muslim prayers at the Temple Mount should be suspended and the Muslim clergy completely divested of any territorial rights.
The Jerusalem Mufti, of course, should be already in Jail. If not hanged for his threats to every Jew, he should be quickly kicked out from the Holy Land!
Netanyahu and his clique are missing a basic psychological fact: one should first try to do a thing on one’s own before receiving help from others.
