Medvedev needs his own war

Just like Putin gained popularity in Russia during the Chechen war, Medvedev seems to prepare military action in Georgia. The Russians may defend the breakaway territory of Abkhasia rather than actually invade Georgia which became an American client. Probably, Russian military will conduct limited attacks on Georgia under the disguise of protecting the pro-Russian Abkhasia. It remains to seen what’s on Medvedev’s mind, though. Georgian independent policy has long irritated the Kremlin.
