Jordan makes demands on Israel

The petty kingdom’s Foreign Ministry handed a protest to the Israeli Ambassador demanding that Israel end the “disturbances” on the Temple Mount. The disturbances, mind you, are not the Arab riots, but an attempt by small Jewish groups to ascend the Temple Mount for a tour and perhaps a prayer.

When it occupied Jerusalem before 1967, Jordan razed all synagogues in the city and denied Jews access to the Western Wall.

Jordan used to be close to Israel, but in the last decade it has come to rely on the United States alone, and commonly disregards security and diplomatic cooperation with Jews.
