American public supports bombing Iran – but quickly

A major company company did telephone polling in the US followed by group psychology. One of the questions was the timing of US military action in the Middle East and its effect on the presidential election. It seems that successful (for election purposes) action can take place up to the end of March. After that date there is risk of implied invasion being used as a negative platform to use in attacking Obama. Surprising was that the majority of voters would support punitive action by US Forces following an Israeli lead as long as there was no actual invasion. Rhetoric from Iran and rising gas prices at the pump have caused a short-term angst towards Iranian leadership. The general consensus is that it is better to get it done and over with.

The US is only rhetorically harder on terrorists than Israel

Responding to petitioning from US citizens whose family members had fallen victim to Palestinian terrorists released in the Shalit affair, the US Attorney General insisted that his government intends to bring them to justice, and that in any case the American embassy urged the Israeli government not to release the perpetrators.

While all that is true, the United States has never prosecuted even one Palestinian terrorist for murdering US citizens in Israel.

No more Arab Springs: Twitter joins Facebook in regional blocking

After the Saudis invested 300 million dollars in Twitter, the social network agreed to block content for regional users. Facebook has already adopted a similar censorship policy.

Their move blocked hopes that social networks can revolutionize protest movements in dictatorships by allowing such movements to function without leaders or offices.

The White House, while spending considerable money on bombs and aid, neglected to address this major development, which shields totalitarian countries from democratic protests.

Why was the US-Israeli drill postponed?

Media reported that the joint air force drill was canceled, but this is not the case; the drill was postponed until the year’s end. Some view that delay as a politically correct euphemism for cancellation, but no, American troops remain in Israel.

The common explanation for the cancellation or postponement is that it was prompted by Moshe Yaalon’s comments accusing Obama of selling out Israeli security for Iranian oil; but this cannot be correct, because Yaalon is a relatively small guy in the government, with a history of controversial opinions.

It is possible, therefore, that the drill has been postponed so as not to distract the IAF from preparing for an attack on Iran.

US$3 billion for the Jewish state

Obama drew a hysterically positive response from the crowd at a meeting of the Union for Reform Judaism near Washington. He touted US aid to Israel, now at $3 billion annually, as the highest ever. He lied: that amount seems large only in nominal dollars. In real terms, that’s far less than what we were receiving from the United states in the 1970s and 80s.

Obama spoke of the toughest-ever sanctions on Iran. Well, Iran has never been months from building a nuclear bomb. And just days ago, the White House pushed Congress to water down the original sanctions.

Obama promised to stand with Israel, and the Jewish assimilators chose to believe him despite the fact that he overthrew our best friend Mubarak, is working to democratize our good friend Saudi Arabia, ousted our business partner Qaddafi, and is allowing Iran to go nuclear.

Obama is certain of Israeli servility

This year the White House approved all Israeli requests for military assistance and supplies. Such a level of military cooperation is unprecedented. It is, moreover, being augmented by massive intelligence cooperation.

At the same time, the Obama administration sternly opposed an Israeli strike on Iran. His levers include refusing to share data with Israel from the Negev-based X-band radar and refusing to activate Patriot batteries manned by American teams. Both measures leave Israel vulnerable to an Iranian missile attack, though not completely defenseless. It is our prediction, however, that the Iranians would not counter-attack.

Presidential candidates agree: there is no Palestinian nation

In debates with Gingrich, rival candidates targeted him for his disparaging comments about the Palestinians.

Ron Paul said the Americans must be a bit more diplomatic, and Romney suggested that Gingrich refrain from such ‘incendiary words.’ In essence, both agreed that there is no such thing as a Palestinian people, but held that it is not wise to tell the truth.

Newt Gingrich called the Palestinians an invented nation. He said correctly that the Americans made up the Palestinian nation out of a random bunch of Arabs who could have lived elsewhere.

Regrettably, he said that in an interview with the Jewish Channel rather than to the mainstream media.

Clinton knows remarkably little about Israel

Speaking at Saban Conference, Hillary Clinton lashed out against Israel for maintaining segregated buses in Jerusalem. She compared them to segregated buses in the American South. This is pure nonsense. The blacks in America had no choice; religious Jews in Israel, on the other hand, are exercising their free choice. Their women can walk to non-segregated bus routes nearby.

Clinton claimed that Israel would have enjoyed good relations with Turkey had we apologized for the Marmara incident. Wrong again. Our relations with Turkey might not be as bad as they are now, but they would still fall far short of the ’strategic partnership’ promised by Hillary.

US presidential contenders oppose Israeli strike on Iran

During the debates, Newt Gingrich said that he would support an Israeli strike on Iran only in an impossible scenario in which it removed the ayatollahs from power. Ron Paul opposed the attack outright.

Thus we will never have a better window of opportunity to attack Iran than now. Of course we were saying similar things during the last months of the Bush administration.

On the positive side, Romney pledged to make Israel his first foreign trip, and Perry vowed to cut aid to the Palestinians (which he probably won’t be able to do).
