A $200 million tranche of aid released by the White House to the PA allowed the Israeli government to take the moral high ground and refuse to release this week’s tax transfers to Palestine.

The Israeli move is entirely symbolic. The tax transfers have not been lost, but merely postponed. They amount to just about $27 million. The Israeli government lied, claiming that without the transfers the PA won’t be able to pay the salaries of 180,000 state employees—who surely receive more than $150 a month.

IDF prefers fake threats

IDF is drilling in preparation for the Palestinian riots that are expected to erupt in September after the UN statehood vote.

There is no chance that any such riots will occur. The Palestinians are tired politically. They have grown cynical about promises, they do not trust their government to evict the Israeli army, and they have begun to tacitly acknowledge their total economic dependence on Israel. The Palestinians have a bigger problem with Fatah’s corruption than with Israel’s settlements.

And in any case, the best preparation for riots would be to distribute weapons to the settlers, many of whom lost their guns in police crackdowns.

What sort of peace is this?

IDF confronts Arabs to help Abbas

The IDF’s Civil Administration has launched a campaign against Arab water thieves. Though nominally concerned with the Arabs who steal water from Israeli pipes in the Hebron area, the campaign mostly deals with those who drill into the aquifer without permits.

The West Bank aquifers will fall to the PA under any peace treaty, and Israel uses them very little. But Abbas’s government does not want to confront its thieves, and has arranged for the IDF to do the dirty work.

To pay or not to pay?

The UN Secretary General asked the Israeli government to resume tax transfers to the PA after the Hamas-Fatah unity deal. According to Ban Ki-Moon, Israel should give the united government a chance.

Meshaal, meanwhile, implied in a WSJ interview that Hamas’ militant actions will be now be coordinated with Fatah’s—in other words, they will be abandoned. That continues Hamas’ policy of relative moderation; almost all terrorist attacks from Gaza are staged by other militant groups.

But Hamas’ moderation is irrelevant to tax transfers. Israel must continue refusing them for the simple purpose of asphyxiating the Palestinian state. The Muslims must be punished for the covert unity deal which they concluded against Israel’s wishes. As long as they are totally dependent on Jews economically, they must be subject to our political whims.

Al Jazeera has finished killing the Palestinian government, which may or may not survive the series of damning revelations regarding its cooperation with Israel on security matters and refugees’ return. Not that the revelations are surprising, but coming from a respected TV channel they become more important than when they were trumpeted by rival Hamas.

The question is, if Israel so badly needs the Fatah government that our soldiers defend it from Hamas, why wasn’t the WikiLeaks editor liquidated to stop the publication of these revelations? Why is his life more important than the lives of Jewish soldiers and their Hamas targets?

Who killed Rahma?

A Palestinian rioter in Bilin, Jawaher Abu Rahma, died after allegedly inhaling tear gas. Which is odd, since she was discharged from the hospital after a few hours. This is not how one dies from tear gas.

Recall that Jawaher’s brother Bassam was killed by a tear gas canister at Bilin. Since the number of deaths there was minuscule, such a coincidence is improbable.

It seems that Jawaher was killed by her own in order to maximize the PR effect of creating a martyr family.

Paying Arabs to condemn us

Palestinian negotiator Erekat informed the United States that his government would seek a UN resolution condemning Israeli construction in the West Bank.

The Palestinians may or may not follow through, and the UN may or may not adopt the resolution. The Palestinians have the right to pursue their national interests any way they want.

But it takes an especially warped Jewish mind to send tax transfers to a government which is hostile to us.

Fayyad has announced a plan to build an international airport at Jericho. While this is not a likely scenario yet, his move raises a question: when Palestinian airports are eventually approved, what will prevent terrorists from crashing light planes into Israeli homes well before our air defenses have time to react?

Feeding the enemies

The Fatah Revolutionary Council ended its convention in Ramallah with a refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state. That is, the Palestinians refuse to abandon the ‘right of return.’

It is mind-boggling that a conference of Israel’s enemies takes place a few miles from government buildings in Jerusalem, with IDF stationed in the vicinity, and Israeli citizens are forced to support the Fatah via tax transfers.

What country’s leader who was not an overt traitor would have missed the chance to bomb them all while they assembled conveniently in our gunsights?
