The Israeli army has arrested Maher Ouda, founder of Hamas’ Izz ad Din Kassam Brigades in Ramallah. For 20 years IDF did not arrest Ouda despite the fact that he was a wanted terrorist. But now, at a time when he has not been very active, the army acts. The Israeli government is collecting pawns for the Shalit exchange. That strategy failed when Israel imprisoned dozens of Hamas politicians, and is unlikely to succeed with its guerrillas.

Ouda lived in the Palestinian capital, which is allegedly controlled by Abbas’ US-trained police.

Now that Biden has left, the Israeli government has blocked the West Bank for a day, so that local Arabs won’t be able to join their Israeli brethren for Friday riots on the Temple Mount.

The West Bank, to all purposes, is under sovereign rule by the PA regime, which rejects even the talk of peace with Jews. Why allow any migration from there to Israel at all? As Rabin said, close the border and let them kill each other like spiders in a can. Let them enjoy independence.

The prospects are bright, really. Under pressure from Fatah thugs, very few Palestinians would accept the citizenship, yet enough of them would accept it to make Palestinian jurisdiction problematic.

The move would turn Palestinian towns into Israeli settlements. Instead of settling the land, we give citizenship to those who already live in the West Bank. Russia successfully implemented a similar policy in Osetia.

The site of the separation barrier is a hot-spot for Arabs, as tens of thousands of illegal Palestinian migrants used to sneak into Israel near Niilin, which made the villagers rich.

The army used tear gas and plastic bullets, thus assuring that the Palestinians would come back the next week. Once, during the Intifada, Rabbi Kahane—an IDF reservist then—was sent to quash Arab riots in Hebron. On that day, Arabs were killed all over the West Bank, but none died in Hebron. As the Palestinians expected an exceedingly harsh response from Rabbi Kahane’s unit, they stayed at home.

This is a common thing: IDF arrested two Arabs armed with knives who tried to sneak into the Jewish Quarter of Hebron. Terrorists have been able to operate with much greater ease since the Olmert government allowed them to walk freely through the Jewish neighborhood.

The IDF has killed a twenty-one-year-old PIJ commander in the West Bank town of Kibatiya. For years, Fatah did not move a finger to destroy PIJ in that town or elsewhere.

IDF shot Ala Abu Rob on the spot after breaking into his house. As usual, the soldiers reported seeing him armed.

Abu Rob was wanted for close to two years, but continued to spend much time in his house, until the army was instructed to take him out.

One has to respect a culture in which twenty-one-year-olds lead guerrilla struggles.

Three days ago, IDF blew a tunnel in Hebron. Now, the tunnels in the West Bank are unusual. In Gaza, they are used to cross the border, but the Hebron tunnel was a dead-end, going nowhere. So we suspected it was not a tunnel at all, but rather a weapons cache.
The Jerusalem Post confirms today that the PLO “policemen” removed close to a thousand pounds of explosives and a lot of weapons from the cache just before they alerted the IDF to the empty tunnel. Reportedly, the IDF commandment knew all along about the removed weapons but chose not to trumpet the affair.
The reason for the silence is clear: IDF currently approves a deployment of another 700 Fatah thugs (“policemen”) in Hebron. Many of them would eventually join Hamas overtly, as the experience suggests. News of the extremely heavy Hamas activity in Hebron jeopardizes both the current Fatah deployment and the peace process generally.
