Just who are these Palestinian ‘civil servants’?

The touted Palestinian economic miracle has proved to be a mere bubble, created by massive donor funding. Now that the world crisis has reduced the donations, the Palestinian economy is in free-fall.

Fayyad cut the salaries of Palestinian civil servants in half, which proves that the vast majority of his government employees are actually terrorists who were given sinecures so that they would abstain from militant activities and racketeering.

The Israeli government can use Palestine’s troubles to strengthen our grip on the enemy and extort maximum concessions from it, but Jews will instead continue to subsidize the Muslim enemy through tax transfers. This will create the worst possible situation: plenty of jobless Arabs who will spend their free time listening to radical propaganda and engaging in terrorism.

And our ally, the US, will continue subsidizing the PA even if it turns to the UNGA for unilateral recognition of statehood.

Moot issue of Palestinian statehood

Recognizing that the US has so far torpedoed his efforts to gain UNGA statehood recognition, Abbas turned to a plan for de facto statehood. He claimed correctly that 117 countries recognize Palestine, and the number grows every month. That figure rivals the number of countries which recognize Israel, so there is now an irony surrounding the matter of who must recognize whom.

Israel can easily dictate Palestinian policies, statehood or no statehood, simply because 87% of Palestinian exports go to Israel, and Israeli tax transfers account for the largest chunk of the Palestinian budget. But so far treacherous Israeli leaders refuse to exercise that leverage.

Fayad is unimportant

Fatah and Hamas have reportedly settled on the composition of their unity government. Fayad, a symbol of moderation and pro-Western orientation, will be excluded from it.

The major reason Fatah is trying to preserve Fayad in the government is that he is viewed as a lynchpin of Western aid. That’s wrong: as in Cairo, the US will continue funding the PA regardless of the figure of its prime minister, simply out of habit.

Guts to fight Hamas, anyone?

As we expected, the Israeli government suspended tax transfers to the PA in response to the Hamas-Fatah unity agreement. Subservient Jews collected some $1.4 billion annually on behalf of their Palestinian enemies, which comprises some 70% of the PA budget.

Israel thus possesses enormous power over the Palestinian government. The question is whether Israel’s rulers are willing to exercise that leverage.

We expect that the tax sanctions won’t last long. As the Palestinian economy nears collapse, the US will pressure Netanyahu and his ilk into releasing the funds under some face-saving scheme which theoretically does not benefit Hamas.

A word of truth from the World Bank

The World Bank, which for years praised the fictitious Palestinian economy, finally admitted in a report that it is entirely based on donor money, which trickles down through oligarchs to Palestinian entrepreneurs.

Enemy state pays friendly police

The United Arab Emirates transferred $40 million to the PA to cover the salaries of its police forces. Saudi Arabia paid $30 million to Fatah this year. Iran transferred an estimated $50 million to Hamas.

Israel, the EU, and US paid the Palestinians ten times more.

Palestinians benefit from Jews

The Palestinian government proudly announced that last year it had built 34 schools. During the same period, Israel built 39 schools for Arabs in East Jerusalem alone.

Fayyad also mentioned that his government had planted 370,000 trees in the West Bank. Israel has planted 16 times as many to replace lost forests burnt mostly by Palestinians.

US, UN are main sponsors of Palestinian terrorism

Arab countries have transferred just over $500 million in aid to the PA in the last three years, and almost nothing of the $7 billion pledged to Gaza after the war.

That leaves US as Fatah’s main sponsor, both directly and through the UN, of which the United States is the main financier. Israel keeps the terrorist entity afloat with tax transfers.

EU: Gaza is Israel’s problem

The EU has scaled back its aid to Fatah, which now claims it cannot afford fuel for Gaza’s only power station. At the same time, Fatah supports 90,000 holders of security sinecures.

Hamas does not want to pay for fuel either.

It seems that Israel will now supply free fuel to Gaza, in addition to free water and electricity. Well, not exactly free: they send us rockets in return.

Half Gaza’s taxes go to Jerusalem

Hamas has vowed to invest half of its $60 million in tax revenue in East Jerusalem, Israel. Hamas’ civil budget is $540 million, 88% of which is funded by foreign aid, about the same amount per capita as Israel.
