Tel Aviv municipality claims to be working ‘to the best of our ability to help the population of refugees and infiltrators.’ Every day during the winter, those criminals will be receiving food, blankets, and warm clothes.

It never occurred to TA municipality to distribute blankets and warm clothes to needy Jewish families.

New sexual harassment allegations have been brought against Natan Eshel, a very close Netanyahu advisor who allegedly called a female staffer and sifted through her e-mails. This is hardly a crime, but it shows us something more important: our prime minister, the person who must lead the nation in the war with Iran, cannot choose his own advisors wisely. Indeed, what kind of person hires an advisor with a habit of harassing good-looking females?

Major European countries lambasted the Netanyahu government’s approval of minor construction beyond the Green Line. Their response is so predictable that one wonders whether Bibi’s actions are not designed to upset both settlers and peaceniks.

Opposition leader Tzipi Livni also criticized the government, not for approving the construction per se, but for alienating Israel’s friends abroad. And she is right; Netanyahu makes life a bit more difficult for them.

The only question is, do we want to fulfill the commandment to settle the land, or do we want to violate the commandment to rely on God only (rather than our European friends)?

French media reported on an incident at the G-20 summit in which journalists overheard Sarkozy telling Obama that Bibi is a liar and he cannot stand him; Obama concurred.

The uproar in Jewish media over the incident is misplaced: Netanyahu is indeed a habitual liar. He has reneged on every single electoral promise, and is only good at talking and wiggling in his promises.

Limits of tolerance

More than a hundred rockets were fired at Israeli cities from Gaza over the weekend, destroying synagogues, schools, and vehicles. Dead and seriously wounded Jews proved insufficiently important for the Israeli government to launch a military operation against Gaza, or even to disconnect its water and power supplies.

The government periodically changes its position on whether it is Hamas or smaller factions only which attack Israel.

In response to the murder of a Jewish family in the village of Itamar, the government has announced the construction of up to 500 apartments in the settlement blocs.

The government’s response is meant to defuse the settlers’ anger. The apartments do nothing to stake the land: they will be built in the West Bank’s Jewish towns, which Palestinians do not seriously contest. The housing units may not be even built at all—the announcement of their construction is enough to quell the unrest among the settlers.

As the PM put it, “They kill, we build.” This long-established Zionist policy is immoral. We either claim this land as ours, or we don’t. An owner does not need his relatives to be killed in order to build on his land. And a robber cannot justify his use of another’s property by a remote injury.

The Tora and halacha say differently: if they kill, we must kill in response. In intra-communal relations, retaliation is limited to no more than tit-for-tat. In relations with other nations who pose danger to the Land of Israel, the Torah prescribes annihilation. And who are we to question it?

Hypocrisy prevents improvement in Haifa

Haifa municipality launched a massive PR and lobbying campaign for Israeli Railways to build a five-mile-long underground tunnel for the city’s trains.

Given the costs, this demand is unrealistic. In addition, the municipality refuses to permit Israeli Railways to convert its trains from fuel to electric power, allegedly because too many poles would damage the landscape. As if the smoggy trains now operating somehow improve it.

Arabs do not want Jewish charity

The developers of the new Palestinian town of Rawabi have vowed to uproot some 3,000 trees donated by the Jewish National Fund.

Which says a lot about pride and prejudice. Arabs are a normal nation, and as such they refuse gifts from their enemies. Jews, on the other hand, donate trees to our Arab enemies who settle the Promised Land. The trees, moreover, are paid for with money donated by common Jews to the JNF to plant trees in Israel—trees that the Arabs routinely burn.
