The president of Yeshiva University made almost $850,000 last year, making him a top earner among his ilk. But others also received salaries in the half-a-million range—and those salaries are rising despite the dire crisis of donations. The Birthright’s president receives a salary of $350,000 even though his organization constantly complains about the lack of funds to bring young Jews to Israel.

Even Ben-Ami, the chief of the ultra-left J Street, pocketed a $200,000 salary.

The company is hardly profitable, with vastly inflated earnings, and it cannot finance gas exploration on a significant scale. Yet corrupt Israeli officials chose not to annul its license and they have done over the years with a number of domestic companies, especially in shale oil exploration.

Instead, the Israeli Navy and IAF are preparing for a confrontation with their Turkish counterparts over the rights of a near-fake company to drill not even in Israeli, but in Cypriot waters.

The real goal, of course, is to subsidize the importers.

Although corruption is widespread in Georgia and the businessmen committed no moral offense, it is wrong for Israel to spoil relations with one of her few friends over a trivial issue.

Well, no more. The State Comptroller is investigating Netanyahu for his use of donors’ money to pay for private jets, top hotels, and similar travel expenses.

Can we stop looking for a saint to lead our government?Compared to the treason the Israeli PM commits every day, travel expenses are the least of his sins.

Predictably, Shabak instituted strict security measures, as they always do when the PM moves around. That resulted in journalists being forced to wait in two-hour-long queues in the sun and subsequently writing less-than-glowing reports about the Israeli achievement.

Such exclusivity is naturally conditioned on bribes to leading Fatah terrorists.

But the question remains, why did the police finance such an obviously useless project for years while starving alternative community improvement schemes?
