Haredim demonstrate against the richest Jew

Some 40,000 haredim demonstrated in New York in favor of regulating Internet access, and in particular against Facebook, which subverts traditional family values.

They are right, Facebook is subversive, but there has never been any way to stop progress, however detrimental it is to traditional moral values. Likewise, the insular Jewish communities of Eastern Europe opened up to the world about 150 years ago, and American haredim are no different. Outside Israel, there is no long-term way for Jews to escape assimilation.

How Jewish are the American Jews?

According to current polls, some 62% of American Jews want Obama reelected. That number is inflated somewhat by the inclusion of non-halachic Jews, who presumably have less affinity for Israel, but clearly the majority of American Jews are ready to re-elect a certified anti-Israeli politician who endangers our very existence by preventing our attack on Iran.

J Street as useless as AIPAC

The dreaded J Street, an ultra-left organization routinely condemned by Israeli leaders, convened a 2,500-strong conference, sending its activists to lobby Congressmen, AIPAC-style, to sign a letter reaffirming their commitment to the two-state solution. Many politicians will sign it just as mindlessly as they sign AIPAC declarations, expecting to win a few Jewish votes or bucks while making no commitments and taking no sides.

Indeed, the peace process and two-state solution have long been mainstream politics in Israel. It is becoming difficult to find a difference between J Street’s Ben-Ami and the likes of Livni.

What does it take for a Jew to condemn our enemy?

Obama’s election staff once again includes plenty of high-ranking Jews, including businessmen, senators, and a former chief of the Conference of Presidents of the Major Jewish Organizations.

Those people remain visibly undeterred by Obama’s role in removing our friends Mubarak and Qaddafi, and his tolerance of nuclear Iran.

Gone are the centuries when Jews were a people of the Book. According to the Gallup poll, only 17 percent of American Jews are observant, compared to about half of all Protestants and Muslims. Admittedly, it’s much simpler to be a believer in Christianity or Islam, both of which lack the rigorous regulations of Judaism.

At the same time, about 70 percent of Jews consider themselves well-off, the highest rate among religious groups in the United States.

The incoming president of United Reform Judaism, an umbrella group of assimilated Jews, is a member of J Street. Rick Jacobs participated in the Sheikh Jarrah clashes on the side of the Arabs. He also approved of the Islamic center near Ground Zero in New York.

The ‘rabbi’ got his ordination from a college in New York and studied dancing in Israel.

Would Jewish leaders meet Pollard?

The Israeli spy has invited leaders of major US Jewish organizations to visit him in his prison cell to discuss their meeting with Joe Biden, which touched on the subject of his release. Now they will have to take sides publicly and declare whether they stand with the White House or a Jewish spy.

After two decades, it may now be time for the Israeli government to tell us the truth about Pollard. The American obstinacy about his release makes no sense in light of known facts. Moreover, the Israeli government ought to explain why it wanted Pollard in jail. Recall that Israeli embassy gave him an Arab attorney who later represented the PLO in America, and that fellow deliberately missed the appeal deadline at a time when the higher court was very likely to overturn the outrageous sentence.

In those exact words Yaakov Neeman responded to criticism of the loyalty oath legislation by visiting members of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs. The sad truth, however, is that we will have a non-Jewish majority regardless of whether the oath becomes reality. Indeed, proper Jews are already a minority among the younger generation.

When Neeman defined a Jew by his allegiance to the God of Israel and the State of Israel, the director of the Chicago Board of Rabbis—a Reform ‘rabbi,’ to be sure—challenged him vehemently.

American assimilators protest aliyah campaign

The Absorption Ministry is running an excellent aliyah PR in the US. They have put up billboards in LA, San Francisco, and New York asking Jews to return home before “Hanukkah becomes Christmas.” The campaign honestly put difficult questions before American Jews, stressing that as Jews they have different values from their neighbors.

The campaign caused near-hysteria among the American Jewish establishment, which has assimilated to the point of being averse to someone reminding them that no, they are not Christians. The ministry pulled the campaign, just as it has always done with controversial ads.

One problem with the campaign is that Hanukkah is hardly distinguishable from Christmas in many parts of Israel, too. Haifa municipality has celebrated Hanukkah and Christmas together for years.

Fake organization for fake Jews

A meeting of the Jewish Agency erupted in scandal when one donor questioned why a government organization with a $300 million budget cannot afford to bring 900 would-be immigrants from Russia and Ukraine.

Since the stream of Russian Jews dried out in the 1990s, the Jewish Agency has become a worthless wreck that invents causes to justify its wasteful existence. Thus, they keep bringing in black Christians whose forefathers were fundamentalist Christians who had been mistaken for Jews. And so the government and major donors waste hundreds of millions on the Sohnut.

But there is another dimension to the scandal: the would-be immigrants are not Jewish by any reasonable standard. For the past decade, the Agency has brought in almost exclusively Jews-by-grandfather, often with forged papers.
