Obama is due to visit the US Holocaust museum next week. As usual, some Jewish dignitaries will accompany him, and others will praise his commitment to Jews.

Instead, they should be protesting the visit. It is indecent for Obama to say “never again” while twisting our hands behind our backs to prevent us from striking Iran, which uses the same slogans and pursues much the same anti-Jewish agenda as the Germans did in WW II.

Antisemitism rate in Brooklyn at 40%?

Media trumpeted the defeat of a proposal to ban Israeli products in a Brooklyn Food co-op, which was a minor event. But there was a much more important figure there: 40% of the co-op’s members voted in favor of the ban. That’s in the country which is our best ally, shows the lowest rate of anti-Semitism in polls, and frightens its citizens away from overt anti-Semitism with lawsuits and propaganda.

Jews dispute who killed Jesus

In a rather funny incident, Jewish groups slammed National Geographic for posting a poll on its web site which asked readers who they think killed the founder of their religion: Pilate, the priests, or the Jews. Naturally, many readers held the Jews responsible.

The attention paid to this incident by Jewish groups is hilarious. Obviously, for someone who believes in the story, Jews must be responsible, simply because the gospel says so. No amount of protests from Jews would prompt Christians to rewrite their sacred texts.

The other side of hate crime in Brooklyn

Just a few days after Israel agreed to extradite to the US a Jew who had defended his neighborhood against black hooligans, his actions were amply vindicated. On the anniversary of the ‘Night of Shattered Glass,’ local anti-Semites torched cars in Brooklyn and spray-painted swastikas.

This happened in the country most friendly to Israel and allegedly devoid of Nazi-style anti-semitism.

Rabbi Kahane once remarked that he would love to see Jews as they are depicted by anti-Semites: clannish and willing to stand up for each other.

Jewish organizations slammed The Guardian’s Deborah Orr, who wrote that Israel agreed to exchange Shalit for a thousand prisoners because we value a Jew’s life above that of a Palestinian. Unfortunately, the opposite is true; our government values public opinion more than the lives of Jews who will be killed by the terrorists we have released. Indeed, the government places Palestinian lives above Jewish lives by refusing close artillery support for our troops operating in enemy areas.

A broad European poll conducted by Germany’s Social Democratic Party revealed a gap between anti-Semitism and anti-Israeli feelings. In the Netherlands, for example, 41% of respondents expressed views highly critical of Israeli policy toward Palestinians, though only 17% said that Jews exploit the Holocaust—which in itself is not entirely untrue and cannot be flatly equated with anti-Semitism. Anti-Israeli attitudes also ran over 40% in Germany, Britain, and Italy.

Jews ignore the problem when they equate anti-Israeli attitudes with anti-Semitism. The reverse is true: anti-Semitism tends to be expressed in legitimate anti-Israeli terms, but relatively few of Israel’s critics are anti-Semites. By clothing the problem in moralistic terms, we abandon any chance for solving it.

Holocaust denial in the PA: and rightly so

Unusually, the Fatah and Hamas governments agree on an issue. That issue is banning UNRWA Holocaust education lessons in Palestinian schools.

The issue is not whether Abbas personally recognizes that the event took place. He is no longer the Holocaust denier he was when he wrote his PhD thesis in Moscow decades ago. Palestinian Arabs, really, cannot teach their children compassion for the Jews who evicted them from their villages; and all those who live in the UNRWA camps were originally evicted. We Jews have good reason to defend the eviction, but we cannot expect the Arabs to share our beliefs.

And so the Holocaust lessons serve no rational purpose. They cheaply flout Jewish suffering in front of our future enemies, and teach them the opposite lesson: if respected European nations slaughtered their Jews, then Arabs can certainly get away with terrorizing Israelis.

70 years of injustice

After talks with the Israeli Foreign Ministry, the Greeks announced that they would restore Greek citizenship to Jewish Holocaust survivors of Greek origin. Who knows why it took them so long.

It is also odd that the Israeli FM promotes foreign citizenship for Israeli citizens.

Anti-Semites invented

The Jewish media attacked Berlusconi for an allegedly anti-Semitic joke he told. The joke was about a Jew hiding another Jew for money during the Holocaust. The punchline was the first Jew wondering whether he should tell the second that the war is over. What exactly is anti-Semitic about it? It is not exactly a tasteful joke, but it is funny.

Berlusconi is not an anti-Semite, and there is no reason to depict him as such.

Self-appointed Jewish leaders take any mention of Jews as anti-Semitism because they would rather forget their own Jewishness.
