There is a new rape scandal, this time in Kiryat Malachi. Police found corruption and swindling in the local municipal government, which is not in doubt. What is strange, however, is that the ten-month investigation documented incidences of rape and sexual harassment.

If the police really believed it was rape, how could they continue investigation instead of closing in on the criminals immediately? Clearly, we have another instance of a witch hunt targeting consensual adultery in the workplace.

Ex-rebels attacked government installations in Tripoli in response to the interim government cutting their subsidies. The former rebels used their entire arsenal in the full-scale attack.

The incident highlights the corruption in Libya, which is now even worse than it was under Qaddafi. Thus, the government spent $1.4 billion to pay the rebels one-time subsidies of $1,750 to $3,200 each, thus implying a total of about one million rebels—a hundred times their actual number.
