After reaching an agreement with the Arab League on Wednesday to stop the violence, Assad continued the tank assault in Homs and repressions elsewhere. It was clear from the beginning that he would renege on his agreement with the Arab League just as he has reneged on another agreements—notably with Turkey.

Assad has no options. The moment he stops the crackdown, Syrian towns will fall to insurgents. The insurgents receive major support from Saudi Arabia, which is also the leading voice of the Arab League. And so Assad cannot heed the League’s demands.

Just days after being admitted to UNESCO, the Palestinians showed their attitude toward cultural heritage by attacking a group of Jewish worshipers at  Joshua bin Nun tomb near Ariel with rocks.

There was no worldwide reporting of this incident, of course. Imagine the media howling if conservative Jews had attacked Arab worshipers.

The State Comptroller published disgusting data showing that MKs had used government money to fund weddings, private trips, and other events similarly irrelevant to their parliamentary activity.

One small charge stands out among the others. An Arab party, UAL, spent NIS5,000 to make plaques for Gaza flotilla activists.
