As we expected, Assad continues to reject US-Russian calls for him to step down. His loyal forces are still firing at raging mobs: however, there were just 32 casualties in Friday’s riots, which suggests that the firing was not indiscriminate as Westerners claim.

Syria will be the real test for Obama’s Iran policy: if he cannot oust an Iranian-propped ruler now, he will much less be able to do so in other countries after Iran obtains nuclear weapons and increases its political-military clout.

The government has finally agreed to vote for the allocation of 10% of green energy subsidies to settlers, though they constitute a much higher percentage of homeowners.

The whole idea amounts to a waste of some half a billion dollars. Solar panels produce less energy in their lifetime than it takes to manufacture them.

Police arrested two private detectives hired by Moshe Katsav to prove his innocence in the face of ridiculous charges. Their ‘crime’ was that they contacted witnesses pretending to be film-makers, which allegedly  constitutes an act of harassment.

No doubt Shimon Peres is determined to put Katsav, who once robbed him of the presidency, behind bars.
