The government has resumed the practice of shooting stray dogs because many of them are infected with rabies. The necessity of preventing infection thus justifies the shooting of any stray dogs, though only a few carry rabies.

The same government banned the army from shooting even rubber bullets at rioting Arab crowds who keep hurling stones and firebombs at Jews.

After Lieberman blocked the amended Matzot Festival law, which would have banned sale of hametz in public during Pesach, Israeli towns are again full of leavened bread.

A Jerusalem court encouraged the sale of hametz during Pesach by saying that the previous law, which banned public sale of hametz, did not ban its sale in private establishments.
