Israel seeks to purchase Hercules C-130 aircraft

in a $1.9 billion deal. At $210 million a piece, Hercules is almost too expensive to risk in any major confrontation. The existing Hercules planes are lightly used because Israel has no need for long-range transport aircraft. The new Hercules model offers no major improvements over Israel’s 35-year-old fleet.
