Iran sanctions fiasco

The strongest sanction contemplated by the West and pushed for by Israel was a ban on gasoline exports to Iran.

In the long-term, Iran contracted the Russians to build new refineries.

In the short term, Venezuela agreed to supply Iran with the required volume of gasoline. It is unlikely that Obama would order the US Navy to intercept gasoline tankers sailing on the orders of his friend Chavez.
