Supported by American instructors, Egypt is busy installing cameras and movement sensors along its border with Gaza. The devices are useless; most tunnels are dug from house to house, and the cameras will show nothing.
Egypt cannot really counter the weapons smuggling because of three factors: corruption, the ingenuity and numbers of the smugglers, and fear of offending powerful Bedouin tribes who live off the smuggling.

What is the point? Egypt don`t really wish to deter this smuggling of arms etc. The majority have the same beliefs and ideology as the palestinians. They are just going through the motions to look good in the eyes of the world.
This whole exercise is cosmetic!
This is just a cosmetic exercise to look good in the eyes of the world. The majority in Egypt have the same ideology as the palestinians so nothing will change, sad to say.
I think more drastic measures by the Israelis will need to be employed and that will not look good in the media. Israel are damned if they do and damned if they don`t.
