Head of Israeli military delegation to the US Pinchas Buhris revealed that the SkyGuard missile defense system failed during the tests he witnessed in America.
High-profile Israeli expert on laser defense Oded Amichai accused the Director General of lying. According to Amichai, the SkyGuard was packed in the 2004 and never used since then. Previous tests were highly successful. SkyGuard was manufactured jointly by the US and Israel on Israel’s order. Ehud Barak and Dan Halutz rescinded the purchase order in 2001 after withdrawing from Lebanon.
Both Israeli military establishment and Histadrut have vested interest in the Iron Dome missile defense system developed in Israel. That system won’t be ready for the next 3-4 years, and is extremely expensive. Unlike the SkyGuard, the Iron Dome uses interceptor missiles about thousand times more expensive than a Kassam rocket. The Iron Dome is useless against mortar fire increasingly popular among Palestinian terrorists.

We can see that the reporter was wrong when asked about participation of Pinchas Buhris on unsuccessive tests NAUTILUS at March 2008.
The answer of Oded Amichai was that NAUTILUS was tested last at 2004, but nothinfg about SKYGUARD.
It says about competence level of reporter and not more.
Pinchas Buhris did observed the SKYGUARD tests on March 2008.

1-st – you understand wrong…
Amichai doesn’t dispute about testing of SKYGUARD at all, but about NAUTILUS testing, that were really breaked at 2004.
2-nd – SKYGUAR, as a last incarnation of NAUTILUS, really failed in last testings March 2008.
And Pinchas Buhris DID NOT LIE – it is really not so effective at this moment:

Amichai says explicitly that the SkyGuard was packed in 2005.
He also says that Buhris could not have attended the tests. While there’s a room for Amichai playing around “Could attend SkyGuard tests – couldn’t attend Nautilus tests”, that doesn’t seem to be Amichai’s meaning. Anyway, I will try reaching him on the phone after Shabbat to clarify.
Israeli skyguard is nonsense and everyone knows about it but for Israelis themselves. Palestinians will be on cloud number nine when they get to know about Israeli skyguard.
Israel skyguard is not effective at all. Our Arabic friends must be on cloud number 9 with happiness. Israel skyguard is a failure Jewish government should be ashamed of after all this money Israel’s spent on it.

According to the latest interview skyguard not tested is not a problem. There’s still plenty of time to do it. Saying in the interview skyguard not tested authorities mean that everything’s under control.
