CNN fired its Middle East editor after she tweeted about her admiration for Hezbollah’s Lebanese cleric Fadlallah, who thankfully died on Sunday.
Fadlallah, a spirited preacher, was a founding father of Hezbollah, though his relationship with the group soured when he urged relative moderation and condemned hostage-taking. A fierce ‘Shiite nationalist,’ Fadlallah preferred grand solutions like the elimination of Israel to Hezbollah’s greasy low-level violence.
The fired editor had set the tone for CNN’s Middle East coverage for the past twenty years.
