Bhutto's widower Zardari succeeds Musharaff

Asif Zardari is an ultra-corrupt thug, like every other Pakistani leader. He was convicted in Switzerland and investigated elsewhere. Zardari is a white-collar criminal without political experience.
It remains to be seen whether he would yield to bribes from the West or threats from Pakistani Islamists. The nuclear-armed country goes through a string of major suicide bombings, and Osama bin Laden remains the single most popular man there. In its feat of the democratizing madness, the US Administration helped ousted General Musharaff. In Palestine, Lebanon, and Pakistan the US-sponsored elections brought Islamists to the power, and now it’s Egypt’s turn.
