In Libya, Gadhafi has ceded to rebel gangs the unimportant coastal town of Adjabiya, as we expected him to do.
In Syria, riots continued in Daraa, a town on the Jordanian border. The protests are fueled by the Muslim Brotherhood and by economic circumstances, mainly the reduced water supply. Events there are largely irrelevant to what happens in Damascus. Assad’s regime is so far not in danger, and the Syrian autocrat can always take off his gloves in dealing with protesters.
Yemen’s president has agreed to step down. Unless Saudi Arabia intervenes, Yemen will become a base for Al Qaeda and similar groups.
