IF you have an intelligent president and an intelligent 'representitives' then the odds of them putting the unibomber in charge should be fairly low.

Obadiah,

I enjoy your writing a lot. Every day I look for a new piece from you. I am happy when some times you write two articles, and miss them on Saturdays.
Of course I don’t I agree with you on all issues, but frankly I don’t think you always agree with yourself. Rather I see your writing as free form creative brain-storming. It is refreshingly free from all political correctness and virtually free from all other constrains (except some attachment to the Torah). Of course brain storming is not the final result and there may not even be any final result.

We need this conversation to open many new possibilities. I would love to see Obadiah engage in conversation with other equally very bright people. Perhaps with some eminent scientists, Nobel Price winners, or great writers? There are enough brilliant Jews in the world. A conversation should result in an action plan.

Israel, the Jewish nation, and of all (civilized) humanity are to survive, we need to replace democracy with Meritocracy. It is a matter of life and death for Israel.

I would love to read your ideas on this subject:
Who would be the best qualified to lead of Israel?
How would we measure their abilities, commitment, patriotism, integrity, courage, intelligence?

The World would benefit greatly if USA had an (Bush is not intelligent, it not his fault.)
At the same time the “Unabomber's” IQ was 170, so just a high IQ is not enough.

One of the first things one should arrange in war is a defendable position. In that regard I think Israel would be wise to evacuate settlements in such a way as to create a reasonably continuous boarder (without too many people caught on the wrong side). That should increace your chances of achieving all sorts of objectives and lower the cost of defence.

To take a extreme example - if a crazy settler was to set up a house in the middle of a terrorist hot bed in gaza how efficient would it be for israel to have to defend that person 24/7 ?

Obadiah's idea is that Israel needs now the weakest possible leader. Olmert is good because he is so discredited that he cannot evacuate the settlements the way Sharon evacuated them.

First you write:
Olmert, with lawyer background, enjoys maneuvering rather than forcing through a solution. He will not push for evacuation of settlements or press Israeli public to abandon the Golan Heights. Olmert is the safest prime minister for Israel now.
And then:
The embattled Jewish state entered the era of professional politicians. When lawyers control the army, our victories are no longer assured.
Huh? Wuzzat??? Please explain, clarify!
