There are some parts I agree with you. Like Obadiah says we do not have to make every Jew make sure that toilet paper is torn right before the Shabbat. But this attention to detail, the exercise of questioning everything, and the discipline involved over the millenia made us today the powerhouse in Science, Mathematics, and engineering. There is a place for everything. Many of the laws make sense only after deep study.
