Joseph,

I am not threatened by Obadiah's belief in Torah.

I am just proposing a rational base that can unite all Jews for the sake of survival and success of the Jewish state. I love Obadiah's clear, unconventional and creative, thinking. His conclusions are based on intelligent analysis of present situation, from my perspective it is unfortunately that he weakens his point by bending the Torah to fit with it.
=======================================
When you based your otherwise excellent analysis on Torah, you only appeal to a tiny section of Jews.

One last thing Chaim, we have to repair it from the inside out. Not create a new religion, not reject the tradition completly (as it has kept us around). We can be proud Jews, yes with a different take, but for the most part are on derech haShem. Don't follow the majority, as the Torah states, which contradicts the rabbi's who say follow the majority. Sheeple on the way to the slaughter.

Chaim, actually the historical Jew (before he was corrupted into the anti-semetic lie, counterfeit idol image named J*sus) did quote the Torah, and refered to 'fellow'. Now, not every Rabbi, or Rav is a reincarnation of Erev Rav. We, as you are well aware of, have 2000 plus years of extra-judaic teachings worked in. From additions of the Torah, to complete nonsensical halachot. The some well meaning Rabbi's have only this to go by. They in otherwords cannot see the forest for the trees. The ones who truly want to correct the mess are immediatly outcast or their ordination taken away. They are one powerful group. Its a sad mess. Obadiah remains annonymous as he is afraid the same fate as of many, and sadly many more to come. It's not over by anymeans.

So this has turned to another Ray Bright discussion...

Ray: When you're telling me not to use Sarcasm, you're giving orders.
And the same rule does not apply to me, because I do not pretend I'm coming with some brilliant untested solution to all of mankind's problems.
Your ideas are just like Communism - they work find on paper (A grad student's paper), and usually fail in the complicated system that is human society.

Ray -- Sonchis, the Egyptian Priest told Solon the Greek:
===
"O Solon, Solon, you Greeks are always children: there is no such thing as an old Greek ... You possess not a single belief that is ancient and derived from old tradition, nor yet one science that is hoary with age. …
===
"You remember only one deluge, though there have been many ... You and your fellow citizens are descended from the few survivors that remained, but you know nothing about it because so many succeeding generations left no record in writing."
===
Plato wrote in Politicus:

“At certain periods the universe has its present circular motion, and at other periods it revolves in the reverse direction ... Of all the changes which take place in the heavens this reversal is the greatest and most complete ... There is at that time great destruction of animals in general, and only a small part of the human race survives."
===
Pomponius Mela wrote that Herodotus relates:

“The priests asserted that within historical ages and since Egypt became a kingdom, 'four times in this period (so they told me) the sun rose contrary to his wont; twice he rose where he now sets, and twice he set where he now rises."
===
My point here is that many civilizations have disappeared without a trace. That is just one reason to revere the scriptures we do have. Perhaps God has some purpose in allowing the Torah to survive.

Thanks, Obadiah, again for an enlightening study.
===
I do wonder, Ray, why, when an article is clearly about Bible scholarship as much as politics, you have to make again for the thousandth time your point that you do not believe in the Bible. So what? Do you go to various churches and synagogues in you home town every Sabbath just to tell the worshippers that they are confused and wasting their time? It is just possible that Obadiah believes in scripture -- truly threatens your world view, doesn't it?
