They all try to annoy each other at somebody else's expense.I know that Russia and US are not friends and have talked to people in Russia and they are annoyed with US greatly for being on Georgia's side and many other things. Besides they don't like Jews, that's why my family is not there anymore. Guess, what they think of Israel? That’s politics. A more realistic view might be that Russia is using Israel, Iran and Syria as chess pieces to accomplish both hegemony in the region and to poke its finger in the US eye. . Of what important national concern could this little sliver of land amidst the vast Middle East be to Russia? Israel has no oil, Russia certainly doesn’t need some small properties in Jerusalem, Israel has no vast store of natural resources that Russia requires, and Israel has no territorial designs on Russian-held land. . So, in the classic divide and cater to animosities, Russia, at very little risk or cost to itself, keeps the entire Middle East coming to Moscow as supplicants looking for the favorable nod. Upon further reflection, I see another aspect to the observations concerning Russia and Israel:
