By Orthodox, I assume you mean anyone who truly keeps the Torah - specifically, the Mizrachi community, and not just the Charedim, of whom at least 40% are working (many are enrolled in Kollel to avoid the draft).

The truth is that the charedim were created it by the state. The gov. was/is totally corrupt and anti-religous, and the army was the most promiscous in the entire world. They didn't want to go to the army, they gave them these deferrments, on the condition that they didn't work. Charedim throughout the generation have worked. So we have lots of charedim not working. But I think that if they get bigger the'll start carrying their share- and Nachal Charedi is quietly moving ahead. I think they would make excellent warriors - being unencumbered by leftist garbage and religous fervor and humanist stupidity. The biblical way of making war. All it takes is one Kol Koreh to change turning the army from an averah to a great obligatory mitzvah.

Secular states also didn't last forever.
Israelis dislike haredim but won't accept Arabs butchering them.
Most Orthodox Jews are employed.

>> Judea cannot be secular, but need not be fundamentalist.

OK, that's [MODERATED]. History lessons while not learned, will be repeated.
Once upon a time, there was state(s) ruled by religious leaders. Once upon a time, catholic church practically ruled Europe countries. This turns to be disaster, kings revolted, and church turned from politics to where it belongs: human faith.

Judea is nice utopia; or may be not so nice. Obadia sees Israel protecting Judea from external enemies. You know what? No bloody way. Even today general Israel public is angry on orthodox for not being drafted.
Same about econimics. Given complete lack of productive skills, who's gonna pay for a nice state? Israel? Yea, right. American sponsors? So long for independance ...

The way Shoher writes is simple, plain and powerful. 90% of what he thinks I agree with, I am Christian and support Israel and the Jews. Balance is all to important in life indulgence in something creates a glutton who can never be satisfied. See Stalin, and the new European Eunuchs. Taxes should be exactly as Shoher stated, low and reasonable. In America, where I reside, taxes are becoming reason for what can only lead to violence. We are not becoming socialist, we are already marching with Marx. Our young are on drugs and ignorant, complacent and cowardly. We are soft from gorging on wealth, we as a civilization are on the brink of complete governmental slavery. I am young. I see the older men 50 and older, afraid of everything believing in nothing. To understand this one has to remember the 60's 70's and 80's and 90's. High paying jobs were Americans. Wealthy Americans, which all Americans are not even compared with 3rd worlders, are leftist Secular Humanists. No, not all in the country. We are not all rich. Socialists kill Jews and Christians, not for their religious beliefs, but because we are brave. The Jewish code, the Mosaic Law, provides a structure in which to see and confront "Cosmic Thought." Socialists want to kill thought for thought kills them. Literally.
