Humans may be predators, may be selfish. I am, and in my own selfish interest I would rather have the best person as a leader of my country. There is nothing unselfish about that. It is like in my own selfish interest I would prefer to have a highly qualified doctor when I need medical help, and a highly qualified mechanic with integrity when I need help with my car. We don't need a transformed humanity, just informed is enough. Once people realize that meritocracy is going to give them better results, they will support it.
