Israel’s political “elite” does not want peace. Had it been otherwise, why delay forming the Palestinian state? Israel derives no benefit from occupying the lands settled by Arabs and spends tremendously in lives and money. Israel can retreat behind the borders her government accepts, and deals with Palestine as a state. Other Muslims will not sign peace with Israel when Palestinian state is created in whatever borders. Palestine long ceased to be Israeli bargaining chip in the peace process. Muslim states take its statehood for granted and offer Israel no concessions, such as peace treaty, to achieve independent Palestine.
Arabs, too, don’t want peace with Israel. Zionist enemy comes handy to divert popular attention from economic shortcomings. Totalitarian Arabs and socialist totalitarian Israel need each other for an enemy. Minor wars like Lebanon-2006 consolidate the nations: people think of immediate security, not vague political objective of dismantling socialism.
Quest for peace is leftist invention. Nations historically cooperated and coexisted without peace treaties. In the sensible world, no one expected a treaty to hold if situation changes. Leftists seek Wilsonian eternal peace, guaranteed by paper treaties. That’s a typical leftists approach, that world’s complexities can be rationalized, studied, agreed upon, settled, and planned. Soviet communists expected the economy to confirm to their prescriptions; Israeli leftists imagine the Arabs will stick to the agreements.
Even if all Muslim countries conclude peace with Israel, we won’t be able to count on their good intentions but will have to maintain the army nonetheless. In practical terms, there is no difference between peace treaty and the absence thereof.
Why give Jewish land in return for elusive peace?

I'll tell you why - because!
How dare you challenge this impeccable reason?
Why give Jewish land for nothing? Because. Why give Jerusalem willingly to the enemy? Because.
So stop being juvenile and accept this rational because. Thinking otherwise makes you a fascist.
Conciliation will never be possible unless all parties are able and willing to address fully the human drama of WWII and its full aftermath in the Middle East in its full configuration.
WWII did not finish 10 or 15 years ago and yet countries like Rwanda despite a definite genocide have accomplished more in terms of reconciliation than Arabs and Jews. This is certainly not for lack of scientifics on both sides.
Jews and Arabs before WWII were never in any conflictual situation leading to any genocidal or comparable situation with those of Jews in the European nations.
The Nebuchadnezzar Deported Jerusalem Jewish community (Babylonian Jews)had been amongst them for thousands of years. Its exact contribution to both Jewish and Muslim worlds has yet to be understood and vulgarized worldwide but definitely the Jews in Europe relied on the experience of Middle East Jewish community when they found themselves with new Islamic governing authorities in Europe.
The Arabic shock or trauma in Palestine is proportional to the shock of the Babylonian community in Iraq for that community deported from Jerusalem had remained there since Nebuchadnezar and knew very well that in order to protect the European Jewish community which was facing global European extermination with the Nazis implanting the Eichman solution legally in every country they invaded, the Babylonian Jewish community would suffer greatly if Islam was contaminated with those Nazi ideas.
They could have no doubt since they saw with their own eyes and the effects of the Mufti of Jerusalem gradual turning to Nazi collaboration in Iraq long before WWII was finished. They understood that if basically they had constitutionally been protected in Babylon for all those years since the deportation and this pursued under Islamic law, this protection was now curtailed and that there would be a need for transfer of population not only to save the Jews of Europe but also of their own community who had lived in peace in the midst of those populations now Islamic.
Before one can talk about refusal for peace, one has to address the fact that the Jewish Babylonian community in Israel and abroad since the Nazis coming in Power and its aftermath in the Middle East as well as at the time of the British Mandate did not engage openly on its own as the Palestinians have since WWII in full historical constitutional reclamations and in the exposition of its constitutional situation worldwide.
This has led to a political and historical evaluation where peace cannot be achieved because it assesses an historical situation before, while and after WWII in the Middle East which is false culturally , religiously and legally.
