It was a brilliant strategy which allowed the establishment of a gigantic corruption machine, now the government issues 85-90% of mortgages. Hopefully now the markets will exert pressure on the weakest point, foreign exchange rates. A swift devaluation of the currency would defacto deflate these outrageous property values, and stick China/GCC with the bill through big losses on their sovereign reserves. The government and its quasi-private entities (The Fed, Fanny and Freddie, etc) create the condition and environment, by artificially manipulating interest rates, selectively regulating and browbeating companies that are politically expedient while rewarding crony capitalism, and guaranteeing risk (which is an oxymoron). Then come riding along on their white horse pretending that they had no idea and now they are here to "fix" it. That way they can create a substantial dependent class to keep the elite in power indefinitely. And now they are doing it again. AMEN!!!
