What you mean with "waited the proper time"? G-d gave explicit commandment to root out Amalek and Amorites, and several kings refused to do so, and suffered because of this. By the way, just a thought: Philistiim annoyed Israel with their knowledge and skills about working Iron. The same place showers Israel now with tubes of...Iron. The remedy? Root them out. Worked then, works now..

So Ovadiah meant we should not obbey the commandment to drive out our enemies just like this, but to wait for the proper opportunity. From the political side is Ok, but from the law is not ok. Look what we happended whit our ancestors when they did not root out amalekites and amorites..

How true. This has been the problem from the start. Every miracle, and there have been many, from G-d has been rejected. Instead of accepting gratefully, we have tried to deny and ignore each and every one. In my opinion the worst was what followed the victory granted in 1967 when we turned around and gave control of the most holy site to the Muslims and still refused to establish borders. I continue to pray that G-d will not give up on us and will give us true Jewish leaders, judges and educators.
