But look from another angle: what was the point of involving Israel in the American war and having many Jewish soldiers killed, when the American army was fighting the very same targets and very well?

No, I don't think he was 'arguably right' because he portrayed to the world that Jewish blood is cheap. That is a chillul Hashem and this sentiment has continued.

Everyone was involved in banning the Kach, even the Likud whose voters Kach appropriated. Every rabbi including Mordechai Elyahu refused to issue a halachic opinion for the Supreme Court that Kahane spoke within the religious boundaries (which are exempt form the anti-racist law on which the Kach was banned).
As for the SCUDs, Shamir was arguably right, as the Americans were doing essentially the same things about Iraq that IDF would have done.

Wasn't shamir also directly involved in banning Kahane/Kach?
_
Shamir also meekly let Iraqi scuds fall on Jews in Israel without doing a thing. Other than that and the other treachery you mentioned, he did do some good and was probably the strongest/most stubborn rightwinger seen in a long time, and not since.
_
Netanyahu's claim that he "inherited" the Wye accords from Rabin govt before him is an outright lie complete BS. Arafat y"s escalated the conflict by having his thugs fire on IDF troops and Bibi had the pretext to retaliate AND call off Oslo. He did neither.

Shamir accepted the Madrid Conference which paved the way to the Oslo. He accepted Palestinian elections, which paved the way to Palestinian statehood. He started talks with the PLO. He grievously bugged Kach.

To stir things up is a lot of job. Say, it's better to have Marzel and Eldad in the Knesset than not. And anyway, there is no one else to vote for.

Why, because he cannot currently get the minimum votes to get a seat. Also, with 1 or 2 seats, the best they could do is stir things up. The left (which includes everyone left of Baruch and Eldad) have an incredible strangle hold on the nation. Accidents and hits happen all the time in our lovely country. Glad we are the light, hate to see it if we where the darkness. Shavuah Tov anyway.------------------------------------
On a side note, what's with the new format. When I click on a persons name, it's just a bad gateway. Ok, forget it, the message came up for edit. Nice job Danny.

Netenyahu handed over most of Hevron to terrorists (I know he "inherited" this from Rabin/Peres/Meretz/Sha$).
What concessions did Shamir make that were so terrible? As far as I know, he didn't transfer any territory, and he built a lot in Yesha.

Why? He won't form a coalition government, but 1-2 seats, he can get them. Ideally, jointly with Eldad.
