Run a google image search for "crocs", Abushy, and you should see at least one picture of those sandals with the holes in them.
They were 'invented' by some Israelis living in New York, who became rich, only to waste all their money like lucky idiots.
Now, without anymore idea in that empty skull of theirs, they pray that their idiotic fad will return, and I laugh.

Hold on now,

I didn't actually finish my thought. You Erick, Ray, Eli, chaim, shiloh, etc. are from the southern kingdom of Judah and retained your identity in the "family". We had all lost are, had it swallowed up by Islam and almost 1300 years before that, I my case as an Israelite, through exile among the goyim for my idolatry and rebellion against the Name.

Any rate, the way to approach Syria, if at all, would be to point out (the Hashemites have Ha Shem in their name)that we who are not Jews are probably Israelites who were swallowed by Islam and/or converted like the Jews were forced to while in Spain under the Inquisition.

Dear Erick,

I don't know what you mean, exactly, by "bright green crocs" (??). Like as in crocodiles? The first time we arrived in 1978, kibbutz had charge of Hamat Gader, on the Yarmuk River---the old Roman hot springs resort. The ancient baths were still operating (hot springs come out of the ground regardless) but the kibbutz had branched out into a real capitalist venture. They were raising alligators that originated in Florida. Crocodile? That is why I asked.

As far as the Alawites of Syria, the Druze or the Ba-hai or the Ha-nee-fees or Bengaladesh, etc, etc, and so on... The way I would appeal to these and other groups (the Kurds fall into this category too) is that there is a great possibility that they were all at one time, before Islam, Christian Bysantines. The empire was pretty extensive and the theology was very all inclusive (it was very heretical gnosticism, but christian in it's core aspect). You could also make a very good case for the so-called lost 10 tribes of the northern kingdom called Israel/Ephraim/Samaria that was already in exile in the same area (Mesopotamia, Middle East, Central Asia).

What is my point? We're all brothers that don't know that our identity was destroyed and went underground and now, many generations down the road, we don't realize that once we were "like family."

States are hostile towards each other, and this is natural.
Americans were "allies" of the Soviet Union only in the final stages of the war. They dragged their appearance on the European theatre enough time for the Soviets to bleed enormously. Even in 1942 Stalin still considered making a truce with the Germans because of Russia's huge losses. The "allies" had to lie to convince him that they would join in soon, so that he would not pull out on them.
As early as 1944 they were already preparing for the Cold war, and actively helped the leading Nazis escape to the West in 1945 to help them in that noble task. They destroyed Russia as is evident today - their human losses never really replaced.
There are no friends. No country would seriously consider Israel as a partner and lose Arab/Muslim markets. We have to become self reliant and have more faith in our own destiny. But a joke like Syria can be dealt with in one afternoon.

Emotions and personal issues can play as much a role as cold logic in determining whether countries become friends, or enemies, since countries have human rulers, and are made of people.
Foolish cold logic Israelis and Americans thought they could bribe primitive 'Palestinians' into becoming their allies. That plan has failed, because their unruly pets value many emotional things more than the beneficial bribes.
You are right saying that the Israeli leadership has no benefits to offer the current Syrian administration. Perhaps they would like to try some free Falafel, or buy illegal DVDs for 20 shekels each.
We also have a lovely container of bright green crocs, a leftover from when they were still fashionable.

Countries are not "friends" for emotional reasons. They are allies if this serves the interests of their ruling elites.
If Israel could propose a scenario that would benefit Syria more than it's alliance with Iran, Syria would presumably change sides.
Of course they would have to deal with public opinion after brainwashing their population to hating Israel. But I think that such switch can be done quite easily. Americans became allies of Soviet union rapidly during WII.

The problem is that Israeli leaders don't have the fantasy, or vision to propose something really great. With lack of fantasy, they will have to wait for a disaster before they can make a radical move.

Sounds pretty rational and pragmatic- I like the jist of it. We have bigger fish to fry though, not looking past Assad at all, but the issues within Israel need slightly more priority imo.
