Jewish organizations trumpeted larger-than-expected Jewish population figures in the US, 6.4mln. Researchers twisted the data to show that there are more Jews in America than in Israel; that strengthened the political posture of the American Jewish leaders.
RDD (random-digit dialing) phone surveys produce upward bias when applied to a wealthy population. Affluent Jews have more cellular phones than the average population, and random dialing reaches them relatively more often. Jews usually have smaller households than poor ethnic groups, therefore more phones per capita.
Another survey method, amalgamating mailing lists of synagogues and community centers, produces plenty of duplicates and includes many Gentile spouses and deceased people.
Most importantly, the population figure is thoroughly misleading. Most American Jews have already assimilated and married Gentiles. After the 1970s, assimilation went from common to nearly absolute. When the generation of Jews born in the past thirty years dies out in 2070s, there will be almost no Jews left in America.

Particularly worrisome to me is that Russia will be majority Muslim by 2050 and a majority of the Russian army will be Muslim within a decade or two. This does not portend well, in either case, for Western culture (considering that Japan despite all of its Asian trappings is, nonetheless, Western in outlook and structure after its embrace of democracy at the feet of Gen. McArthur). So, where do this lead us? The numbers of Jews in the United States is grossly overreported our blogger states; this, due to economics (cell phone use, etc.) or bias on the part of the pollster. In actuality, the reasons why the number of Jews is less in the United States is because there are less of all Judeo-Christian white stock here. It all goes back to the same thing - our women for some reason have decided to quit birthing. They have given up the responsibility to "go forth and multiply" which is truly the First Commandment of God. Why? Have the secularists so filled our little girls with the need to "make something of yourslef" and "fulfill your yourself" that these youngsters are more imbued with self-satisfaction than we racial preservation. I think the numbers prove that exactly this choice has been taken. And, as in a full circle, this cruddy result goes back to secularism where instant gratification, denouncement of the Holy, and adherence to a world-credo of self-indulgence have overcome humans' natural awe and gladness about the part she, or he, can play within the universe to keep it strong and vital. An even more complelling argument in my mind is that the "haves" of Western culture (particularly those born into wealth and who have suddenly acquired by serendipity or pluck) constantly tell the "have nots" of Western culture how ashamed they are, and should be, of wealth, or "bringing another unloved baby" into the world, or about the millions of hungry Chinese, Africans, etc. who have nothing. It is these same "Haves" who lead the secularist movement to emplace on the high alter of nonbelief that self-fullfilment is more holy that following the First Commandment of God - going forth to multiply. It is well-documented that most Jews, at least in the United States, look at their Jewishness as racial or cultrual - not religous. This majority of jews are, truly, of exactly the same Judeo-Christian stock as the rest of the European stock in that outlook. So why would anyone expect that the number of Jews should decline? The number of all Western or Eurpoean stock is declining. This is an established fact of which we're all aware but of which we will not contend. Instead, in order to balance our budget and fund our pensions our Congress has not developed an encompassing plan to make our women proud of their unique birthright, it has opened our borders to Jose and Chuy, to Mohammed and Chin in the hopes that their children will be begotten in sufficient quantities to allow the frivolity of Washington to continue unabated. These vast and chilling tides of change coming upon are are remarkably like the the tsunami that swept our South East seas two years ago, tides that will leave little of the former landscape and little of the results of all of the generations who have come before. But, should we be lucky enough to have gradnchildren and great-grandchildren what will they be like and who will they be? Mohamed or Chuy? If they are Mohamed or Chuy and they love freedom and will lay down their lives to protect democracy then the plan to bring them here was sound. If not, what is left after our passing will be the despotism of the East and the corruption of the South.
I don't know much about Judaism, but is it against the Jewish beleif to marry someone outside of the religion?
To Sunny: Definitely. Similarly, believing Christians have their non-Christian spouses converted in order to marry in a church. It's long past since apostle Paul accepted mixed-faith families.

To Tim: A Jew could well marry a Gentile (assuming they are of different sexes and adhere to several other restrictions), but that Jew must ask his Gentile fiance/ fiancee to convert before marriage. Every other attitude runs against Judaism. Similarly, a Christian cannot marry in church a member of other religions. In practical terms, two members of the same family cannot adhere to different faiths, so they need to choose whom they want to be.Gee, it's not even about faiths. I cannot imagine marrying leftist.
