Make the economy Jewish

Though the lack of security and ideological bankruptcy play their part in emigration, arguably the single most important behind the Jews’ leaving Israel is the economy. Jews made every country of their residence prosperous – and prospered there. Jewish socialists achieved the opposite, they bankrupted both the communist Russia and Israel.

Israel’s military expenses do not explain the failed economy. The IDF costs the state about 10% of the GDP, which is high but not critical. The indirect costs amount to another 10-12% of the GDP. Those include lost GDP from conscripting the youth and reservists, pensions and medical care for casualties, and the cost of land taken by the army bases. There is also an issue of structural distortions in the economy: for example, the army and some ineffective military support companies attract many of the brightest minds which could be better employed elsewhere. There are also incontrollable costs of running Mossad, and large part of the police budget is also military in nature. It is safe to assume that 25-30% of Israeli GDP applies to military sphere. Although this figure is large, it doesn’t explain the two to five times’ personal income difference between Israel and America.

The touted costs of aliyah are questionable. Israel got considerable foreign aid to that end, and new immigrants quickly joined the work force, paying back to the state with taxes and GDP growth.

Israel’s welfare expenses aren’t that high. The controversial subsidies to religious Jews are altogether pale compared to the amount of private donations to them and the government’s subsidies to Arabs.

In an export-oriented economy such as the Israel’s domestic supply and demand are irrelevant. American software developers which outsource much job to Israel have a demand for any realistic number of employees so long as they ask for somewhat lower wages and benefits than their US counterparts. Israelis are much more efficient than, say, Indians, and don’t need to peg their wage requirements to Bangalore. Why, then, the Israelis who work for American corporations receive so low wages? Because the traditional level of wages in Israel, depressed by the decades of socialist rule, is quite low.

Israel needs to break away from her socialist legacy, and develop a free market economy which would make it unfeasible for Jews to emigrate. A few measures are obvious.

The government’s regulatory powers and agencies need not be reformed, but abolished altogether. It is better that Israel goes through a short “Wild West” stage than continues fighting the bureaucracy indefinitely. Insurance companies and liability bonds should take the place of preemptive regulation. Anyone should be able to open a business without any permits as long as he purchases liability insurance.

In order to end the spiraling real estate prices, zoning must be abolished. Anyone should be able to build on his land whatever he wishes. That would legalize the massive Arab illegal construction, but Arabs are not prosecuted for it, anyway.

All the state enterprises except perhaps the military should be privatized. Monopoly and licensing have to be abolished. Trade unions must be recognized for whatever they are: illegal cartels, prosecuted, and dismantled. Nepotism in the few remaining state enterprises should be made a criminal offense.

Banking and corporate law should be streamlined along the Swiss model to make Israeli jurisdiction internationally competitive. Israel can withdraw from unnecessarily tough money-laundering pacts: we have no problem with Columbia’s drug kings or Russian corrupt oligarchs.

Military expenses must reduced by relying on nuclear deterrent. Female conscription should be abolished. Males should be conscripted for six months except in those army branches which require extensive training. Even those branches should try the most condensed courses and conduct training on weekends instead of draining the economy of hyper-productive young Jews.

The compound tax rate, which includes customs duties, should be capped at 30%, and gradually decreased to 15%. Currently, the government adjusts the tax rate to provide for all its desired expenses; on the contrary, the tax rate should be fixed, and the government has to decide which of the programs to abandon.

Welfare should be reduced to the biblical minimum: society provides food for those who positively cannot provide for themselves. The poor can also be offered campus housing and basic medicine. Needy cannot be choosy. Many Jewish charity organizations would add to the state’s basic welfare, but Arabs would be left to their own. Jewish state won’t take care of them except for the very basic aid; recently expired food would do.

All schools and universities should be privatized. First of all, that would reduce the spell of ultra-left Ministry of Education. The government should only set basic rules of education, such as learning math even in yeshivas, and let the schools set their own schedules and parents choose the appropriate schools. The current curriculum is wasteful, students waste their time in schools, most courses lack the real-life relevance. Instead of paying taxes which finance the school system, parents should get long-term tuition loans – here is the trick – repayable by their children. That way, parents would not hesitate to bring up more children, and the children will eventually pay for their own education. In the legal doctrine, parents are entitled to make decisions on their children’s behalf; taking out a tuition loan is just such a decision. The Jewish state now spends tremendously on educating the Arabs who constitute a third of Israel’s young; with tuition loans, that would no longer be the case.

Israel, on one hand, needs to increase family subsidies, but on the other hand, doesn’t want to subsidize Arab families. The solution is tax subsidies: perpetual income tax reductions for working parents. Most Arabs officially lack substantial employment and won’t be able to claim subsidies.

Social security should almost cease. Every person is responsible for saving for his own retirement. If he didn’t, the government can provide him with the minimum charity (food, campus shelter, basic medical aid). Israel can also enforce the biblical commandment that obligates children to provide for their parents. In such a scenario, Jews would love to bear more children, who will be their retirement security.

Uri Messer handled Morris Talansky donations for Olmert

Olmert’s long-time friend and fellow attorney Uri Messer reportedly cooperates with the police investigation against the prime minister regarding the American donations. The money in question were not Moshe Talansky’s but collected by him. It is unknown what part of the money Morris Talansky has pocketed. Thus, Talansky received $90,000 kickbacks as a salary in 2004 for collecting donations for Shaarei Tzedek Hospital. He is not donating his own money for the last decade.
Morris Talansky allegedly passed the money either directly to Olmert or to his secretary Shula Zaken. The funds were to be used for Olmert’s mayoral and the Knesset elections. Both Olmert and Shula Zaken passed the funds to Uri Messer to be spent for campaign purposes.
The transaction is technically illegal, but just every political party and figure in Israel collects unaccounted cash from foreign donors for political purposes. Olmert is also accused of appropriating part of the collected funds for himself. Even if true, that’s also a standard practice among Israel establishment and indeed in every country. The Knesset hypocrites who bring in tons of cash from American donors slammed Olmert for accepting money from Talansky.
Outrageously, the Likud MK’s demand ousting Olmert amid the investigation. It’s not even an issue of “innocent until proven guilty,” long forgotten in Israeli trial-by-media. Olmert isn’t even indicted, and the accusations are murky. But Olmert accepted money collected by Morris Talansky specifically for the Likud! Olmert used the money for Likud election campaigns in Jerusalem and the Knesset.
There are no hints whatsoever that Olmert did anything improper in return for the money.
The statute of limitations for campaign financing crimes had passed.
Uri Messer’s cooperation with the police investigation to implicate Olmert is unlikely, as there is just no reason for Messer to do so. The case would entirely hinge on his testimony, and why would he implicate both himself and Olmert? It is much easier for Uri Messer to deny any wrongdoing as did Olmert during a short press conference following lifting the gag order.
Uri Messer is married to Deputy Attorney General Davida Lachman-Messer, hilariously in charge of tax and corporate matters, the very field of Uri Messer’s purportedly illegal activities as an attorney. That makes is easier for Attorney General Mazuz to press Uri Messer to testify against Olmert.
We received a yet unconfirmed report of Uri Messer suffering an odd traffic incident. A sensible insurer won’t make a policy on his life now.

Bush reneges on his promise to Israel

Ariel Sharon was proud of the letter from George Bush he received shortly before destroying Jewish villages in Gaza, stating equivocally that Israel is expected to keep large settlement blocs in a peace deal with Arabs.
Under the pressure from their oil-rich Muslim cronies, Bush-Rice seek to abandon the explicit promise. After several White House officials pointed out the low legal status of the letter, Rice declared that any border changes are conditional on the agreement with Palestinians and that the situation today is different from what it has been when Bush gave Sharon the letter. In essence, the promise is abandoned and Rice acknowledged that her efforts made the situation worse for Israel.
US Administration has a history of reneging on its promises to Israel. The 1947 US vote in the UN in favor of creating Israel was revoked in 1948. Eisenhower promised Israel to keep the Tiran Straits open in return for Israeli withdrawal from the Sinai in 1957, but the US didn’t interfere when Egypt closed it in 1967.

Loyal Bedouin’s house set on fire

One Sana Elbaz, a Bedouin woman, played a loyal Arab during the Independence Day ceremony, participated in lighting the fire. The next day other loyal Arabs bombarded her house with Molotov cocktails.

Olmert says No to surrender

Palestinians and Syrians accused Olmert of derailing the suicidal “peace talks.” The Palestinians denied any substantial progress on the borders, and the Syrians refused severing ties with Iran as a condition of peace with Israel.
Ehud Barak was ready to give up Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem under virtually no conditions. Netanyahu gave Hebron to Palestinians. But Olmert, a shrewd politician, withstands the immense pressure to surrender Judea, Samaria, and the Golan Heights to Arabs.

Jordan bans al Naqba, Palestinian catastrophe day

On the day that Israeli Jews celebrate the Independence Day, loyal Israeli Arabs, naturally, commemorate their catastrophe. That’s quite a sign of them accepting the Jewish state.
Jordan, a country more sane than the leftist Israel, prohibited its Palestinians to publicly commemorate al Naqba.

Drought in Israel

Water supply to Israeli public and national parks cut by a third. Israel continues uninterrupted, undiminished water supply to the Hamas state of Gaza, to Palestinian terrorists in the West Bank, and to Jordan.

Hezbollah works harder than IDF

The two days of a mini-civil war in Lebanon claimed 11 dead, dozens of casualties. That’s a better result than the average IDF’s day in Gaza.

Civil war looms in Lebanon

As Rabbi Kahane used to say, “Peace between Jews and Arabs would be wonderful. Meanwhile, I’m waiting for peace between Arabs and Arabs in Lebanon. It’s so wonderful to see them all living together: Hezbollah, and Amal, and whoever else.”
Hezbollah’s leader Nasrallah announced that he recognizes a symbolic crackdown by th Lebanese government as a declaration of war. The US-propped government of Lebanon which also enjoys tacit support of mainstream Arab regimes, temporarily closed Hezbollah’s TV station for incitement, and fired the security chief of Beirut airport, a notorious venue for smuggling arms from Iran to Hezbollah. Nasrallah vowed to defend his right to bring arms from Iran, though the UN resolution which ended the 2006 war in Lebanon specifically calls for disarming Hezbollah. Of course, the brave peacekeepers tend to ignore that inconvenient clause while Israel screams of Hezbollah’s massive rearmament.
Israel likely pushes the US Administration to take a tougher stance Hezbollah, and indeed both the US, EU, and the Arab regimes grew irritated by Iran-Syria’s meddling in Lebanon. Every Arab country fears for its own Shiite population which Iran can steer at the next step.

Oil price vindicates Bin Laden’s forecast

Oil reached the record $124 per barrel, touching the lower limit suggested for the Arab national commodity by Bin Laden about 10 years ago.
Thanks to the US invasion of Iraq, oil corporations experience windfall profits.

Israeli-Syrian meeting won’t happen

any time soon. Turkey announced failure of its mediation efforts. So we can enjoy the Golan Heights for a few more months.

It doesn't take a Netanyahu

The crisis of Israeli education is due to libertarianism. The teachers’ low pay certainly drives some of the best cadres away from education, but that is not the major problem: the best teachers rarely find high-paid jobs in the commercial sector, anyway. Rather, universal disrespect to teachers is the problem. Children are taught to disrespect teachers: ignore them when they enter the class, call them by name instead of title, and generally behave familiarly toward the teachers. Parents join the subversion of teachers’ prestige: they criticize teachers with their children present, defend children in disputes with teachers, and even demand sanctions against school principals.

Corruption adds to the problem: the Ministry of Education changes textbooks almost every year to provide publishers with windfall profits, but teachers don’t have enough time to familiarize themselves with new books. Ever changing political course also substantially changes the subject. Socialist nihilism allows inducting the teachers with mere three years of professional courses instead of university degree; such teachers usually lack erudition.

The solution to Israeli education problem requires several steps. First, return to the world’s best education, proved by twenty-three centuries of unparalleled success: Jewish religious education from the age of three or five, including reading, massive memorizing, and various types of analysis. Second, divest from at least half of the teachers and bring the best teachers from India, Russia, and other low-wage countries. Three, reduce the school time to reasonable; twelve-year general education is absurd. Four, increase the teachers pay by 30-35% to the society’s average. Five, mandate the show of respect to teachers.

Dr. Baruch Goldstein was murdered 14 years ago

[Mearat a-Mahpela (The Cave of the Patriarchs) is the burial place of Abraham, Yitzhak, and Jacob. The place was purchased by Abraham and conquered by Jacob. The cave is the second-holiest Jewish site. The insane rulers of Israel gave Arabs most of Mearat a-Mahpela even though Arabs massacred Jewish community in the very same city of Hebron.]

Yigal Amir, although he did not actually kill Rabin, is a hero because he raised his gun against a high-ranking traitor, the murderer of Altalena. I would love to know that Dr. Baruch Goldstein walked into the holy Jewish site desecrated by Arabs and exacted revenge on them and preempted the planned pogrom. Unfortunately, I am not sure about that. Dr. Goldstein was a good Jew and a wonderful person, but he was not perhaps a national hero. He was a victim.

The official story is simple: On Purim 1994, the mad Kahanist took his rifle, went into the mosque, and shot the worshipers. Never mind that the place should not be a mosque in the first place. Never mind the Arabs were shot from the different rifle than Dr. Goldstein’s. And certainly never mind that he allegedly shot 154 Arabs with 140 bullets.

The absurdity of the government’s scenario was immediately apparent: a tender person, caring doctor shot Muslims in cold blood. The government ventured a libel that Dr. Goldstein, an army doctor, was so mad that he even refused to obey orders of his commanders and declared his only authorities to be RAMBAM and Kahane, and also refused to treat Gentiles. Those lies were perpetuated though Dr. Goldstein’s commanders disproved them immediately, and he in fact was distinguished for excellence in medical service and have treated many non-Jews.

The Arab crowd lynched Dr. Goldstein after disarming him. Israeli attorney general refused to prosecute the murderers most of whom were well known and boasting of the murder. In another case, when a Jew shot an Arab terrorist after disarming him, the Jew was sentenced to long prison term even though he acted in temporary insanity. As everyone says, Arabs are not treated on par with Jews in the state of Israel. They are treated preferentially.

Immediately after murdering Dr. Goldstein, the Arab mob attempted a large-scale pogrom in Hebron, with nine Jews and a number of Arabs killed in the subsequent clashes. The Hamas-led pogrom was premeditated, prepared long before the incident, as the official warnings indicate. A day before, Palestinian mob ("worshipers") rioted in the Cave, and shortly before the incident they chanted "Slaughter the Jews," as Shamgar report concedes. Acting on Major Stellman's order, the IDF surprisingly released the arrested Palestinian inciter. Despite the exceedingly high tensions and clear pogrom mood, the IDF and Border Police didn't bring reinforcements but left only a handful of guards at the Cave. Massacre of Jews was in the air, and the Israeli government welcomed it, as the massacre would have ended the troublesome Jewish presence in Hebron, as the 1929 massacre did.

The official story accuses Dr. Baruch Goldstein of opening fire at Arabs. Any sensible person - and that doesn't include leftists of Shamgar Commission - would ask how could the doctor achieve at least 154 Arab casualties, including 29 dead, with 140 bullets? He is claimed to walk in the Cave with 4 cartridges, 35 rounds each for Galil rifle. Shooting in the dense crowd of Palestinians, it was just impossible to reach 154 of them. It was impossible to spend one round only for each casualty. It is very hard to kill with a single shot in such hurried circumstances. Even allowing for all those incongruence, there is physically no way to score 154 Arab casualties with 140 bullets.

Arabs murdered Dr. Baruch Goldstein when he tried to reload his rifle, so at least one of the four cartridges was still unused, bringing the number of bullets down to 105. It is completely implausible that almost each bullet wounded several Arabs, passing through their bodies.

Shooting 4 cartridges in rapid-fire mode would not have produced that many casualties, and might jam the rifle. Shooting 105 or 140 bullets in semi-automatic mode would have taken a considerable time, giving the guard just meters away enough time to react and the Arabs – to flee.

Even the best shooter cannot realistically score 154 casualties acting alone, with a single rifle, hurrying, in dense crowd. And Dr. Goldstein was not a great shooter. Neither before, nor after him, in thousands of terrorist acts throughout the world, was such a score achieved. No shooter came even close. Only in the totalitarian Israeli state which controls the media, brainwashed people can believe such nonsense. To compare, the Arab who inflicted 19 casualties in Merkaz HaRav yeshiva in March 2008 spent about 600 bullets.

Another scenario is more likely, and supported by the large body of evidence: Dr. Goldstein appeared on the scene when Palestinians had already started the riot they had prepared for months. The doctor was the first Jewish victim of the Arab mob. Israeli soldiers on duty shot at the Arab crowd, achieving the impressive 154 casualties. But at that time of rampaging peace process, the Peres-Beilin-Rabin clique could ill afford a picture of Arabs massacring Jews in Hebron, so they invented the story of Dr. Goldstein's "massacre." So the subsequent Arab riot became "justified" instead of being a normal Arab pogrom. As an added benefit, Peres-Beilin-Rabin framed the Kach Party, the only force which could stop the suicidal peace process. Israeli establishment used the fact that Dr. Goldstein was a member of Kach to ban the party (it's good that they did not ban the medical profession, since he was also a doctor).

At the Shamgar Commission hearings, two Israeli soldiers on duty that morning (Kobi and Niv) testified that Dr. Goldstein entered the Cave wearing his standard M-16 rifle, not the Galil used in the shootings. Independently of each other, they also said they saw another man entering the Cave with the Galil rifle. Shamgar rejected their testimonies.

A search for the mystery man with Galil rifle walking in the Cave beyond the army posts in the dawn could lead to one place only: Shabak, Israeli security service. Just like they framed Yigal Amir and murdered Rabin, they also sent their man to shoot in the Arab crowd. The objective was tremendous: to end both the Jewish presence in Hebron (a major issue for Jewish zealots) and the only real political opposition, Kach (Netanyahu, that farce of an opposition, transferred Hebron to Arab jurisdiction).

It remains obscure how Dr. Goldstein entered the Isaac Hall, full of Muslims, without anyone noticing him in such a highly unusual movement. No less likely, he was murdered elsewhere in the Cave and his body later dragged into the Isaac Hall. Several Palestinians testified they saw Dr. Goldstein shooting, but even Shamgar report notes numerous severe contradictions in Arab testimonies. Shamgar conjectured that Dr. Goldstein entered through Yosefia route, but his fingerprints are absent on the door.

Conveniently for Shamgar, the CCTV on the site was declared not operating at the time.

Israeli rulers had a tremendous interest in murdering Dr. Goldstein. After the assassination of R. Meir Kahane, Dr. Goldstein became the link between several feuding Kahanist factions. After Dr. Goldstein's murder, R. Binyamin Kahane became the leader of Kach, and was also assassinated. R. Binyamin Kahane was also ostensibly killed by Arabs, but the fact that the assassins "accidentally" pumped 62 bullets in the front seats of his car while not touching the kids on the rear seat reveals Israeli snipers. Years later, the IDF arrested the alleged assassin, but since he had several murders on his hands, it was no problem convincing him to also accept responsibility for R. Binyamin's.

Years later, the leader and an activist of Jewish Defense League in America, Irv Rubin and Earl Kruger were murdered ("committed suicide") in two separate incidents in high-security US prisons. JDL was the last remnant of Kahane's movement. Israeli establishment did away with Kach.

On a separate note, killing of Arabs in the Cave of the Patriarchs is no different from the ancient events we celebrate on the Purim.

Others are worse than Olmert

Even venerable Yitzhak Shamir, the former leader of LEHI, finally succumbed to the Left’s and foreign pressure and accepted Palestinian autonomy, a first step toward their independence. Menahem Begin, a no less distinguished former leader of ETZEL, was brought down by the Carter’s pressure, and gave away Sinai. No wonder Rabin the empty man was manipulated into the Oslo agreements, Netanyahu the business consultant abandoned the holy city of Hebron to Muslims, and Sharon with the brains of a bulldozer traded Gaza for the safety net against criminal prosecution of his family. Not even to mention Barak, another fake “Mr. Security” who made Hezbollah rather than Haifa secure.

On their background, Olmert stands very well. Starting with his principled opposition to Begin-Sharon’s giveaway of Sinai decades ago to the cat-and-mouse game with Abbas, Olmert gives nothing to the enemy. Everything seems to be agreed upon with Fatah, but Palestinian statehood is not advancing. Those who blame the 2006 Lebanon war on Olmert would do well to advance an alternative. Should we expect Olmert to improve the army during his two months as prime minister? Should he have invaded Lebanon again after the 18-year-long occupation proved strategically futile? Should he have scorched Lebanon with napalm to get rid of all bearded Arabs? Olmert had the courage to strike at Lebanon upon the first provocation.

Olmert, he is very brainy. Everyone wants him to invade Gaza, but what’s the next step? If the IDF kills even a couple of thousand Arab militants and withdraws, many more would volunteer immediately, because the IDF withdrawal would be seen as Hamas victory. If the IDF stays in Gaza, the international law kicks in, and Israel would have to take care of the occupied territory’s population. There are two dead in Sderot, but hundreds of Israeli soldiers might die in the urban combat in Gaza. As the Palestinian guerrillas acquire Grad-types weapons able of hitting Ashkelon, Olmert might have no chance but to order a punitive expedition and pacify Gaza for a year or two, like the IDF pacified Lebanon. There is just no clear-cut solution to guerrilla warfare, short of the measures which would look unacceptably cruel on CNN.

The left are greatly dissatisfied with Olmert and seek to topple him. So far, he had not succumbed to Rice-the-Black-Plague’s pressure or the threats of criminal indictment on fake charges. Conducting an honest, straightforward policy requires otherworldly moral strength; real politics is an art of maneuvering. Olmert is not a political bulldozer, but a master politician. His ways are not straight, but they do not lead to capitulation. This is as good as it gets with Israel’s politicians.

Er?

Why leave in Israel rather than in Australia – besides being unable to obtain a residence permit in Australia? Israel is a Jewish state, while Australia is not. Fine, but what makes Israel Jewish? The state violates even the basic religious precepts such as Shabbat, prohibitions of foreign worship and pork, and the positive commandment to build the Temple.

Perhaps Israel is a state where Jews are safe? That’s not congruent with the six or seven wars which Israel fought in its brief modern history; Australia is empirically much safer to Jews than Israel.

Maybe, Israel is a state of Jews? But of how many Jews? Arabs are already 34% among Israel’s youth; add Slavs and Jews-by-grandfather, and Jews are already slated for a minority status in Israel in twenty years. If living in a Jew-mostly state is so valuable that it is worth fighting for, then it is surely better to have a Jew-only state, and therefore expel the Arabs. Or, if living in Jewish state is good, then it is also good to live in Jewish communities, but the Supreme Court struck down the right of Jewish communities to refuse residency to Arabs; wherever Jews go in Israel, they cannot flee Arabs.

Israel is better than nothing

What’s the point of maintaining an Israeli state? Neturei Karta is right: Jews have even more rights as dhimmi under Muslim jurisdiction. When the country belonged to Arabs, Jews could settle freely in Hebron and any other place. Jewish education was religious or patriotic, whatever the Jews chose. Every Jewish group enjoyed autonomy, low taxes, absence of conscription, and until the advent of Zionism – safety. Jews were free to speak Hebrew, lived in isolated communities without Arabs, maintained friendly relations with Muslims, and had no occupational restrictions.

A third of Jews was exterminated in WWII. Another third dies out in the American assimilation oven. The remaining third was gathered in Israel from all corners of earth. Israel drained all Jewish communities. The preconditions look messianic: two thirds of Jews annihilated, the remaining third’s condition is hopelessly bad. Israel’s only purpose is to preserve some Jews from the universal assimilation. When Jews are no longer religious, Israel can at least provide them with national identity. Even if the Israeli experiment fails, the Jews who stream out of the country would still preserve a post-shock sense of identity perhaps sufficient to guard them against assimilation until the religious identity is acceptably redefined.

Israel is better than nothing

How Rabin was killed

There are many gaps in the story of Rabin's assassination. But we can reliably fill them from the context. Israeli ruling establishment has a history of political assassinations, including Arlozoroff, the Season, and most likely the Kahanes and Zeevi. Assassinating Rabin won't be outrageous. The establishment also has a documented history of blatant disregard for the law, such as Beilin-Peres negotiations with the PLO in Cairo before Rabin's elections. Beilin and Peres are heavily invested in the peace process, and one more "victim of the peace process" was not a high price for them to pay. Both hated Rabin and numbered many grievances against him.

The two conspiracies were running concurrently. One was a normal Shin-Bet's provocation against the right wing, in line with the subsequent framing of Goldstein, the purported Kahane Chai's planning of the attack on Arab school, etc. Shin-Bet's agent Champagne worked in Hebron for years, and Yigal Amir was just one of his targets. Shin-Bet aimed at framing the right, not killing Rabin. So Amir, unknown to himself, was shooting blanks at Rabin. Shin-Bet infiltrated Amir into the sterile area of the highest security and warned the guards to stay away from Rabin to give Amir clear shot. That much we see on the video: Rabin's guards step when Amir draws his gun. Subsequently, the shouts are heard, "It's blanks!" The shooting was theatrically staged after the immense peace show. It was planned in the sterile area rather than in the square so that no one stops Amir. Shin Bet, accordingly, placed video operators near the scene to have evidence against Amir, thus the Kempler's video. To retain credibility, the video has to be amateurish. Rabin was likely aware of the plot because on the video he looks at Amir seemingly quietly, without gesticulation. The Shin-Bet's plot was going on for years. Champagne spent much time with Amir and conservatives.

A big change came about shortly before the peace rally. Rabin publicly refused the concessions to Arabs and called for annexing the West Bank. It seems that he entered one of his hysterical mood swings. It became paramount for the Peres-Beilin group to get rid of Rabin. Planning the removal of Rabin - at that stage, not necessarily by murder - they came to know of Shin-Bet's provocation plot, an insignificant operation among many similar ones. At that point, Peres or Beilin instructed Shin-Bet to move fast forward with the fake assassination, but also planned a follow-up: the real assassination of Rabin in his car. Although Shin-Bet was profoundly leftist and both Peres and Beilin had many appointees there, the security service undoubtedly knew nothing of the planned real assassination. Rabin was probably killed by a guard who worked for Peres. Rabin's own guard was killed in the ensuing skirmish, and honorably buried a few days later after "committing suicide."

Now Shin-Bet realized that the Peres-Beilin group framed it. The secret of Champagne could not be kept for long and as soon as it came out, Shin-Bet was implicated in Rabin's murder. That's no small thing: a Shin-Bet agent convinced a right-winger to shoot Rabin. That smacks of a putsch. So Shin-Bet released the Kempler video to prove that Amir didn't kill Rabin. Shin-Bet didn't want to take a crash course with Peres and Beilin, and didn't dispute the official version of Amir assassinating Rabin, but secured its own back by proving that Amir didn't kill Rabin.

Soft defeat

Israel will unlikely end up in nuclear mushroom. Muslims don’t need to go for such trouble. Syria will employ Hezbollah’s tactics, shelling the Golan Heights while protected itself with Russian anti-air and –tank missiles. Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood will take revenge on Israel by aiding Hamas. Muslims tried to prevail over Israel military, failed, and pragmatically switched to wearing her out. They will force arms race on Israel and bankrupt her through continuous military preparedness; their own infantry is cheap. Saudi Arabia will keep buying real estate in Israel. Iran will set up charities in Israel, as in Gaza and Lebanon. Muslims will help their brethren in Israel to breed and expand territorially.

Popular resentment among Jews about political fiasco of Jewish state will prompt the left to cement their coalition with Arabs. They will form consistent Knesset majority. After Muslims breed to about a third of Israeli population – twenty years from now – they will dominate Arab-leftist coalition and claim important ministerial portfolios. With no war in sight, Israelis will lack resolve to oppose Muslim encroachment in all branches of power on security grounds. Brainwashed from kindergarten and up, many Israelis will accept Arab dominance of ethnic-blind Israel as normal or at least unavoidable.

Economically efficient Jews will emigrate, leaving Israel with oligarchs, paupers, and pensioners.

Once numerous enough, Israeli Arabs will riot and substantially end Jewish presence in the Middle East.

soft defeat

Illegal sentencing, illegal release

Totalitarian states rarely lack legal systems. More often, they employ ad hoc law, bending rules to suit the fleeting needs of the rulers. Ad hoc laws break societies, for they make society’s functioning unpredictable. Imagine if a stone sometimes falls to the ground and other times floats in the air, sometimes bread is given free and other times a sky-high price is charged, electrocuting kills some times and heals at others. Law-abiding societies sentence criminals even if they admire or respect them. Robin Hood and Bonnie and Clyde were duly hunted down even though the populations admired them.

Consider the case of Palestinian terrorists whom Israel releases from her jails. Are the inmates enemy fighters, criminals, or victims of Israeli injustice? Israel rejects the last possibility and indeed most of the Palestinian inmates were sentenced for murder, complicity or attempted murder. Foreign relations do not influence criminals’ fate. The only possible legal reason for a prisoners’ release is treating them as enemy fighters.

If the Arab inmates are fighters, then they automatically become war criminals who deliberately targeted civilians. International case law stipulates executing them rather than keeping them in jail or releasing them. No country released convicted war criminals simply upon signing peace with its former enemy, let alone as a gesture of goodwill in preparation for peace talks. The criterion of releasing Palestinian terrorists – “without blood on their hands” – is legally absurd. Failure to commit a crime through arrest is not an extenuating circumstance.

The few Arab inmates who targeted Israeli troops rather than civilians are not war criminals, but prisoners of war. They, however, are not detained as enemy fighters, but sentenced by Israeli courts. Criminal courts have no jurisdiction over POWs – as indeed the Supreme Court recognized when it allowed the government to release Arab prisoners for “political reasons” without judicial consent. If Arab inmates are POWs, then Israeli courts grossly overstepped their jurisdiction by sentencing them, and Israel acted unreasonably by detaining POWs often for decades. Also, jail conditions are way harsher than the international conventions stipulate for POWs.

If the released Arabs are enemy fighters, then Israel is fully at war with the Fatah to which they belong. Absent of a formal cease-fire, Israel must bomb the Fatah-land instead of subsidizing it with tax transfers.

The Israeli government and the leftist Supreme Court blatantly violate the law by releasing Arab terrorists because the ruling establishment does not fear the public or media control, and has positioned itself above the law. As if there is any law in Israel.

Bibi - a hope?

Bibi Netanyahu has recently sparked a round of admiration by declaring that Israel under his leadership won’t revert to pre-1967 borders. Netanyahu’s fans just don’t listen. He supports a Palestinian state, although he accepted a blessing from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who categorically denied Palestinian statehood in the Land of Israel. Netanyahu is similar to Rabin, who also declared that Israel wouldn’t retreat to her former borders. Netanyahu agrees to a Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria, and only wants minor border rectifications to accommodate some Jewish settlements and acquire for Israel a few hilltops. If that’s all, then the confrontation with the Arabs and world opinion isn’t worth the benefit of annexing to Israel a few square miles. A corrupt traitor like Barak could finish the issue much more efficiently than Netanyahu. That’s assuming that Netanyahu would follow through on his electoral promises at all. The last time, he also campaigned on renouncing the Oslo Accords, but signed the Wye River Memorandum as an addition to them.

No major Israeli politician accepts the fact that a Jewish state lives or dies on a single question: Do we desperately want this land? Peace is better than land, but is peace better than Judea and Samaria? Israel lost the territories when Judea and Samaria became the “West Bank.”

Ideologically charged English-speaking immigrants to Israel and many Russians possess the common sense understanding of “we,” “our,” and “enemy.” Israeli-born sabra Jews, brainwashed since inception, have little ideological zeal. Lieberman the phony sucks in Russian votes. Netanyahu is the ideal candidate for right-leaning, Israeli-born Jews: he talks right, retains political correctness and is generally nice, and doesn’t embroil the state in the consequences of actual right-wing policies.

No mainstream politician is worth going to the polling booths.
