I recommend: 1. A Concerted public relations campaign aimed at the West to explain the situation and defuse the latent anti-Semitic criticism. Encourage the Western nations to support Abbas and promise help to Gazaians if they turn away from Hamas. . 2. A zone of sufficient width on the Gaza side of the Israeli border that will be cleared of civilians, mined and declared a free fire zone. . 3. A continuation of bombings against Hamas government buildings. . 4. A concerted effort at what ever means necessary to close the tunnels under the Egyptian border. . 5. Blockade of ports and any makeshift airports to prevent supplies and military ware entering Gaza. . 6. Parachute small arms, ammunition and leaflets into the civilian areas of Gaza to encourage the Palestinians to revolt against Hamas. . 7. A public relations effort aimed at the Palestinians to accept Abbas as their leader in Gaza. . 8. I believe only this approach will result in a tolerable situation that has any chance of success.
