Here’s one for thought… it’s fucking bread. Who gives a shit? I can understand how it is symbolic in the struggle for a secular state versus a religious state. But most of the concerns that divide the sides are absolutely stupid anyway.

Actually, death comes through a secular state. A Jewish state would expel the Arabs along with some “Jewish” ultra-left, threaten the rest of Arabs with nuclear weapons, and live peacefully.
For such a state, yes, we can fight to the death.

Okay, so there is no way to reconcile a secular and a Jewish state. Let’s say that is correct. Where do we go from there? Are we to choose? And if so, if we choose “a Jewish state”, then what? Where are you headed? Are you in favor of a struggle “to the death” to enthrone the Jewish state? Because if not, you haven’t said anything at all.

You asked good questions: “Why should I be more proud of Einstein, than of Newton”.
“And also, how do I share in Einstein’s merits”.
And you are right there are many geniuses among antisemites. The answer is complex:
-
1. antisemitism is a mental and emotional illness that only partially obscures the mind, so it is possible to suffer from it and still be genius.

2.I am proud of Newton, as I happened to be human, too:)

3. Now about sharing the merits of Einstein. It is only natural: People feel proud of their country’s soccer team, even if they themselves can’t play soccer. Perhaps that’s stupid, but common. However there may be something to this. Einstein was a son of the Jewish nation, and there must be something in Jewish culture (and “culture” includes religion, folklore, traditions, ways of bringing up children, food, music, literature, and everything else), that results in HUGE number of creative geniuses. I being Jewish I am part of this culture, and I am proud of my nation and my culture. Perhaps no other people have made as huge contribution to humanity as Jews, except for the ancient Greeks. Interestingly the ancient Greek culture is dead, (probably killed by Christianity), and Greece has never recovered. Jews on the other hand, are still continuing to produce genius of the highest quality, and it has been going on for centuries.

I am also proud of Israel: I am proud that the world’s most downtrodden people have stood up against the antisemitic world, and created a functioning state, (successful, even with all it’s terrible flaws) under most adverse conditions.

So I hope that you forgive me for being proud of Einstein, Bernstein, Rubinstein, and all the other “Steins” (Gertrude Stein:)?

Do you mean that gentiles are not ethical? That’s unfounded racism. They subscribe to “You shall not murder,” “You shall not rob,” and they eat properly with fork and knife. If Jewishness is about being ethical, there is plenty of ethical German girls.

Ray, are you proud of Isaac Newton? Hobbes? And what does it mean e.g. for your grandchildren? Will be they good Jews? Will they keep jewish tradition alive? What does it has to do with Einstein? Leah Riminis mom is jewish also. Rimini is in Scientology. I have to admit she is a good actor. But a good Jew? I have my doubts. Ray, Judaism is very secular. It´s about ethics. Keep a jewish – a ethical live and be a beacon for others. Ethics and hard work. Very secular indeed. I say again, I have my doubts about Metaphysic at all. But it isn´t an obstacle to be Jewish.
