Dave,
I prefer not to go into detail of my personal life here, however should you really have such interest you can contact me by email.
*
One important point I am trying to make is that we cannot afford to divide our people into two conflicting groups: The religious and secular Jews. We need to stand together. As for the Jewish identity Israeli and Jewish must become synonymous. A Jew is a Judean wherever he lives, and an Israeli, who does not identify with being Jewish (nationally, not necessarily religiously), should not be a citizen.
*
At the current moment of history, the Judean=Jewish identity can only survive and thrive in a national state. On the other hand this identity is not destroyed by contact with other cultures, on the contrary it is enriched.
*
My being Jewish has nothing to do with my doing, it is who I am on a certain level: I am a product of my parents and my people, not only biologically. I don't know what that other thing is, but it is clearly there, it is recognizable and it is a resonance. If there was no antisemitism, many more Jews would come out of hiding.
*
As for spirituality, I personally find the teachings Zen and Tao Masters generally of much higher caliber than anything Jewish. The only exception to this may be Master Bal Shem and some a couple others Hasidic Masters.
The only religions that should be forbidden for Jews are Islam and Christianity, because they both are explicitly full of Jew-hatred.
*
Anyway, my original point is: Don't create divisions. We all need to support each other. We need to create a country where there is space for both religious and non-religious Jews.

Ray, have you served in the IDF. I have not.
Do you live in Israel? If not, do you live in a Jewish community? Are all your friends Jewish? Are you married to a Jewish woman? Do you have kids?
Are you of Ashkenazi/ Sephardi/ Ethiopian origin?
Do you like "Jewish" food, by any definition?
Do you like klezmer music?
If the answer is no to many of these questions, chances are your kids will drop out of the Jewish people, if you have kids.
The reason I say is that you're an atheist, so you have opted out of the religious component. What else defines you as Jewish? What else will define you or your kids as Jewish?
Remember, within 3 generations- or less in today's world- Jewish people who opt out of the religious component- they disappear even as cultural/ nationalist/ secular Jews. Why bother with Jewish culture? I am dating a Chinese woman. I think Chinese secular culture is far superior to Jewish secular culture. However, I do daven daily, and I do believe that Judaism is intellectually superior to Daoism/ Buddhism/ traditional Chinese folk religions.

Dave,
IF A JEW STOPS BELIEVING IN HASHEM, he is no longer a Jew.

I am a Jew, and I don't believe in "Hashem".
I stand with my people, my forefathers, and my peoples history. I am a loyal Jew in heart and action.

Roger, also I already explained in an earlier posting that there are Non-Rabbinic forms of Judaism/ Israelite faith which still exist today:
eg. the Karaites
the Karaim
the Samaritan Israelites
ALL these groups ALSO believe in the Indivisible Creator of the Universe, a Unity unlike any other Unity (ie. Not a compound unity),
And these groups are NOT Rabbinic/ Talmudic at all. They reject the Talmud/ Rabbinic teachings
Also these groups ALSO agree with Rabbinic/ "Talmudic" Jews that the Messiah/ Mashiach will be a mortal man.
Yet these groups are NOT Rabbinic.
The reason is that I and my fellow Jews of ALL FACTIONS/ SECTS of Judaism, and also the Karaim and also the Samaritan Israelites read the Tanach
and believe that God CANNOT be DIVIDED UP- there is NO Trinity in Judaism nor in the Tanach.
You, and other Yeshua believers and Christians PERSIST in believing something that IS NOT THERE.
You know what- you are in a HUGE majority. Enjoy believing in Yeshua or Jesus Christ, you have BILLIONS- I think it is 2 BILLION fellow Christians. Please leave us alone. We are a TINY minority. Why do you bother about us?
We are happy in our belief, which WE believe to be true.
In the end NO ONE can prove ANY faith.
If you do good deeds, your soul will dwell with God for all eternity.
Likewise,
If I do good deeds, my soul will dwell with God for all eternity.

Roger, actually if a Jew starts believing in Hashem, or becomes Buddhist, Gnostic, Atheistic, Brahmanist, he ALSO ceases to be Jewish. However, if he gives up those beliefs and repents, and returns to belief in the Indivisible Creator of the Universe, a Unity unlike an other Unity (Ie. NOT a compound unity), he can recover his Jewish identity. Just like a Jew who starts believing in Yeshua or Jesus Christ, if he repents, and gives up his belief and again

Dave...another thing, where in the Tanach it says that Moshiach is a mere man? Not according to Yeshayahu 9:6, where Moshiach is called "El Gabor" and "Avi'Ad".

I understand your point, Dave. What I don't understand why you rabbinic jews like you, insist on saying that a Jew who accepts a Jewish Messiah as Yeshua is, he stops being a Jew. If a Jew accepts Budhism, or Gnosticism, Masonry, Atheism, Brahamanism, or any other weird religion or philosophy, you still consider him or her a JEW (?), but if I Jew, like in my personal case, has accepted Yeshua, you start saying that he is not anymore a Jew, but a Christian. It seems to me, that you have no idea of what a Jew is or should be...a Jew, from the word YAHUDI, is the one who worships YHWH, Adonay shel Israel. When ISRAEL came out from Egypt, there were people from different races and nations in this crowd. Being a Jew, doesn't mean that you are not an Israelite or because of your faith you do not belong with Israel. Jews, ethnically speaking belong to one of the Tribes of Israel. In the country where I reside, I can be a Messianic Jew, though the Constitution says that Catholicism is the official state religion. Now, a citizen of this country doesn't being a citizen because of his or her faith...you are still a citizen of this country with all the privileges and rights. Rabbinic Jews are the only ones who say that if you believe in Yeshua, you stop being a Jew, How is that possible? An Italian citizen needs to be a Catholic? An Italian citizen stops being an ITALIAN because he or she doesn't believe in the Catholic Church? Likewise, a Jew is always a JEW and it doesn't matter what you are believing in. I know some people who are Jews, because of ethnicity, and they do not believe in Torah nor the Bible, not even believe in Hashem...and they even say that the Bible is a book full of tales. Do they stop being Jews? Not according, to Rabbinic Judaism, but if a Jew believes in Yeshua, who was a Jewish Rabbi, lived His life as a Jew along with His original followers, you rabbinic Jews come along and say "You are not anymore a JEW!" But if a Jew does not believe in Hashem, you come along and repeat: "Any way he is a Jew...because once a Jew...always a Jew". This is called dichotomy and that is the problem with rabbinic Judaism...you confuse being a Jew because of ethnical heritage and being a Jew, because there was a "conversion" to the religion miscalled "Judaism", which actually means: Rabbinic or Talmudic Judaism. There are thousands of Jews, ethnically speaking, who believed in Yeshua, as Moshiach shel Irael...the concept of Messianism belong historically to Judaism, and here we are not talking about "rabbinic Judaism", which was an invention by Yohannan Ben Zakkai...who when died did not know where he was going to: to Heaven or to Sheol despite his religious practices. The Torah says that without the spilling of Blood there is no redemption of SINS. That was the number one practice carried out at the Temple. Hashem allowed the destruction of the Temple, because the last Korban, was sacrificed...when we accept Yeshua's sacrifice in our hearts and make teshuva, then we are SAVED by Hashem's grace. Nothing of this has to do with Goyim's paganism. Read your History books again.

Another thing, Judaism believes that the Mashiach will be a mortal man, who will come and help the Jews return to their land, and world peace will be achieved, and the Meshiach will live a long life, but he will die. No one is immortal, except God.

Roger, I am a real Jew. My ancestors were Jews from Iraq. Anyone can become Jewish if they convert to Judaism. If someone converted to Karaite Judaism, they are therefore not rabbinic Jews, but they still will not believe in Yeshua.
Be happy in your Christianity, Roger. Once you accepted the divinity of Yeshua, you became a Christian. Ask any Jew- if a Jew starts believing in the Trinity ie. God has 3 parts, they have become a Christian. You can call your religion whatever you want, but it is not Judaism. I fully accept you as a person of Jewish origin, but by denying God's Unity, which you do, you are no longer a Jew. I am sure you are a fine person, and I am sure if you do good deeds in this life, your soul will certainly dwell with God for all eternity, but you have given up Judaism. Enjoy your fellowship with 2 billion Protestant and Catholic Christians. Please leave me and my fellow Jews who still believe in God's Unity alone.
