I suggest that it is even worse in Israel with the judges appointing judges, although government appointing them does not resolve the problem. In Canada due to major changes to our traditional system of government made by the late Pierre Trudeau, elections are meaningless in many ways. We elect members of Parliament who are supposed to pass legislation, yet non elected judicial activists now strike down whatever law they wish and write in legislation that did not exist. I suspect something similar exists throughout the West. Due to this and a general absence of true justice many feel only contempt for judges and lawyers. How true!
