As for this op-ed, you are right Ahmedinejad won’t last, but Iran will.

Iran is doing exactly what Israel did decades ago by gaining nuclear weapons surreptitiously. It’s the same scenario. France helped Israel, and Russia, and possibly ohter nations are helping Iran. Don’t for a minute think that other Mid East nations are not at this very moment working on similar projects.

What goes around comes arounds, so stop complaining. It’s only natural to want to keep up with the Jones’.

Within 7-15 years, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria, at least will be nuclear powers too.

Obadiah observes the obvious here: “A political change in Egypt, which is highly probable, would tear Egypt from Israel and align it with Iran.” An ancient enemy next door that Israel was counting on to stay neutral suddenly becomes a bigger threat than an ancient friend (Persia)that is today just a house of cards – a store front building with really ‘no there there’. He made a similar point a few days back in “Righteousness, not Justice” (November 19):

I was the second one to comment on that thesis by Obadiah and his comments today in this premise (that Ahimadinejad can’t last) only goes to re-enforce what I said about a week ago. Another thing: that biblical prophecy in Ezekiel 29: 1-16 clearly reprimands Israel for trusting in Egypt instead of Him. That issue hasn’t been dealt with yet in the present and the events of Ezekiel 29 haven’t happened yet historically.

Sometimes Obadiah swerves over into prescience without apparent aforethought and this Egyptian connection at least foreshadows a possible scenario, if not running into it head on.

At that point, we will only be able to soothe ourselves with the assumption that a ground-level nuclear explosion in Haifa port won’t kill more than twenty thousand people, and many Arabs among them.
