I have read some comments but by and large the most ridiculous one came fromSalih Kapusuz, deputy leader of Erdogan's Islamic-rooted party. Who said that Pope Benedict's remarks were either "the result of pitiful ignorance" about Islam and its prophet or, worse, a deliberate distortion. He has a dark mentality that comes from the darkness of the Middle Ages," Kapusuz told Turkish state media. "It looks like an effort to revive the mentality of the Crusades."The last time I checked the only region of the world that was mired in the middle ages were the Arab nations that are located in the Middle East. Secondly I haven't seen any Christians (or Jews for that matter) attacking mosques, and destroying property.
