I had a friend here about 14 years ago that was from Haifa, Israel. She had a son by a marriage here in the USA. She collected money every month from the Israeli government and her mother wired it here. She was also on welfare here. She told me that in Israel she would be afforded a free home in which to live as well. It is crazy that there was not more investigation to the legitimacy of the welfare claim.

I agree, Erik. For I have friends who made aliyah to Israel, and they literally cannot afford to live there without some financial support from friends & family in the Diaspora. I see the welfare mentality as a spoiled, disfunctional child of the socialist-communist efforts of the 1940s and '50's, saying "Let the government take care of everyone". This is what seems to happen inevitably when people put their trust in a human institution. Let's return to trusting in G-d alone, and not in any human. People at war should band together, as Americans did right after 9/11; but when those in charge don't trust in G-d, chaos & self-defeat follow. We're seeing it here in the US now, with the Democrats being in power (& most of them don't want any god telling them what to do); they have no certainty about what's right or what's wrong, so they bicker with everyone & try first one course, then another & another, yet none of them with self-sacrifice or determination. The Republican leaders have largely abandoned the principles that made that party so good & effective. With such people influencing Israeli "leaders", of course there's institutionalised selfishness. Let's return to our G-d & let him tear the root of selfishness from our hearts.

Not a single comment about this important topic?

It is true, and it is outrageous. A country in threat that spends its funds in a way that hastens its demise, and burdens its fruitful citizens to the point that they become cynical, apathetic, and struck with despair.
