A civil war in Lebanon would only temporarily solve the problem of the militant Shiite dominance. There are enough Shiites in Lebanon, and Iran will keep addressing them, now or in a decade. A multi-religious country like Lebanon is inherently unstable.

If there isn't a Civil War than Hizbollah will surely takeover. If there is a civil war there is no guarantee as to who will win. Besides that who would actually be fighting this civil war? Iran and Syria are blatant in their support of Hizbollah. The Government could not win a war against them unless they had outside help. It's embarrassing that the Christians are accepting Hizbollah as a legitimate force in the region. I believed from the get go that had Siniora setup an alliance with Israel that he would be far better off.To see a country that, at one time, had a bright future, turn into the typical Islamic backwater is upsetting and should be an example to others who seem to think Islam has merely been hijacked. The only thing that can prevent Hizbollah from taking over is a war. This war would eventually spread throughout the region and all of the nations would be involved. Then again, I'm just an average guy basing an analysis on what I have read.
